[Katara shrugs, smiling.] Well, Sokka and I grew up in the South Pole. You know it's summer there when the sun stays out all day and sometimes, a rare few flowers bloom. You know it's winter when the sun doesn't come out at all and it's bitter cold enough to freeze your hair off if you go out while it's wet. Most of the time, it's just cold.
