Hey, everyone. I know it's incredibly lousy timing, but it's Sokka's birthday tomorrow. Obviously we're not throwing a party or anything, but if you see him... [what's she going to say? Wish him a 'happy birthday' the day before we all go out to war? Her tone becomes wry.] ...give him a hug or something. I'm sure he'll love that.

[There's a lot of mixed feelings she has here. Does that mean he's coming to give her that hawk on his birthday? It would seem to line up timing wise, but. This is also one of the only things she's tagged all since post-event journal wise, feel lucky]

It looks like all of us will be gone for a little bit, so I was hoping that I could get you guys to watch Momo? He takes care of himself for the most part, and will steal all your peaches, but he can be kind of fun to have around.

[And she has a feeling that if she leaves the lemur at home by himself, he'll tear the place apart. And be lonely. Which is worse.]

Well, it's not like you guys planned to come back to town for it. I'm sure he'll understand.

If I end up coming back without my bending, then it won't matter if I still have the Spirit Water. There won't be anything I can do. And I don't know anyone else who heals here like I can. I don't want to lose the chance to help you. There are two days before the draft, and if you call me any time before then, I'll come. Because I think that you are one of the 'more important things' I have to worry about.

Right. [There is no wibble here.] Well, he'd probably have more of an appetite with this behind us, anyway.

[She knows she will. Going up against people who can take away her bending? She can't think of anything more frightening.]

If you come back without your water bending, you can ask John in a few months to bring it back, [Derek says this quietly, patiently.]. So you won't lose the chance.

...Not like me. That's already been proven by the mess they made bringing me back from the last draft.

Your soul will still be whole; you'd just have to wait to fix the rest of it. They can't fix mine, though. It's beyond their reach. And I can wait. I have to anyway, for everyone's sake.
