[So then Katara wakes up much, much later and will be just puttering around the house for a while for those who are inclined to catch her in serious conversation. She sends notes to Trafalgar and to Gelda to let them know that although she's back she feels like she needs to take a few days off... she's still very tired, and as of yet not feeling like being around people.

All that changes, however, on Wednesday. She needs to get out of the house, she needs to do something life-affirming and fun... and isn't it fortunate that she's been working on building several insane monstrous intense snow tracks for people to go sledding on? She decides to go check on them and to bring her journal with them.

Finding that their structural integrity hasn't been too damaged without constant maintenance and that the cold weather still holds... she decides that today is the day to show them off.]

Hey, everyone - I've been working on something the past few weeks and if you like sledding then... [She trails off and flips the journal over so that the journal feed will reveal three sledding tracks. She's made good use of all the snow in the past month or so, the clearing is very nearly bare of it - instead, there is the very large one, made completely of tunnels and requiring snow-cut stairs to ascend and once dared will necessitate a few on-the-walls themselves turns, there is the slightly less large one that seems to be composed mostly of sheer drops, and there is the normal-sized one that is essentially one long spiral down to ground level.] then grab your sleds. Don't worry, I've had a few people test them and they've held up just fine! It's south of the barracks, by the river.

[OOC: If anyone wants to come sledding, please do! Threadjacks of all sorts are welcome!

Also, if I could get those who attend the school, work in the clinics, or attend combat medicine lessons to give this a quick glance and offer input, that would be awesome! \o/!]

Well, I'm glad that you have your brother here! That makes readjusting a lot easier. My brother's here too. ["Falenas" is a vaguely familiar name.] What's your brother's name?

Frey? Or a lot of people just called him Prince back home... For some reason. I don't know, I always liked the name Frey.

[Several pieces click into place very rapidly here, and Katara laughs.]

Well, people tend to call you by title when you're royalty. Does that mean I should call you princess?

[Lightly teasing because it's not that she would. She never uses titles.

Huh. Frey's a prince. Well, it makes sense.]

Um, I'm actually the Queen but... I don't think its important since I don't think we can get back to Falenas. Lym is fine.

Ah. [Queen. Huh. She actually doesn't know any of those.]

Well, I know your brother. I think he's very nice. Why don't you see if he can bring you down here? You can just tell him it's south of the barracks by the river, I'm sure he can find it.

OK! If I can find him. I think he wandered off to do something or other.

Well, they'll still be here, even if you can't find him today! It's probably better if you do it while I'm here to make sure they stay as they should be, but they should be safe even if I'm not here. Just make sure you take someone with you, okay? Sledding isn't dangerous, but mistakes can happen, especially if you're just starting out.

Oh. Okay. I guess its not like kicking open every door in the palace or something easy then.

[She laughs.] No, it's pretty easy. But you end up going fast, especially on these sledding tracks, so it's better to start lying down and have someone with you, just in case.

OH! That makes sense. Like being on a really tiny ship powered by a rune engine!

[A nod.] Or gravity, in this case.

OK! So like a frozen water slide! I understand!

Yes! Exactly like that.

Those are fun! As long as the water is warm... Hrm. I guess ice isn't as wet though.

[She grins.] No, the ice isn't as wet. The point isn't to get wet - it's to go fast.

[And upside-down. And on the sides. And just have fun in general.]

So is there something soft to land on in the end?

No, once you reach the bottom you keep going on flat land until you slow down and stop.

So the ice dumps you into something with more friction? Or you just look for somewhere soft to jump off the sled thing?

[markofthebrave]

No, when you sled you usually just start at the top of a snow-covered hill. Then when you reach the bottom, you're still on snow but you have enough time and space to stop moving before you crash into anything else.

[chibifalenas]

But didn't you say ice?

No, I don't think so. But either way, [She flips the journal again so that Lym can see out.] I used snow.

OH! Ok! If I can find brother I'll be there.
