The thing was... Katara's been feeling increasingly isolated from Sokka in this one aspect: She still wanted, needed to get home. Her goals were clear. She'd still been paying attention, trying to figure things out, but it had been ages since she and Sokka had sat down to compare notes. She wasn't sure he was even interested doing something to go home now.

I guess this is a good way to find out.
