Aang didn't come out for breakfast today. When I went in his room to check on him, all his stuff was gone. ...I guess this means he went home, right?

And all the stuff in the kitchen is different - does anyone know how they're supposed to work? ~~Or how they got in here without waking us up, because -- seriously, creepy.~~

[As for action? Katara is not going very far today. In fact, she is stuck inside, doing healing sessions with the invalid and making sure he stays in bed, and trying to figure out how all this crazy new stuff works. If you think she'd open the door for you and let you in, feel free to stop by and give the girl ~~something else do~~ a helping hand!]

Heh. Well, I'm willing to be a guinea pig for that kind of thing. If it doesn't work, company is always nice.

I'll see if I can get Sokka over here to watch Zuko for a little while. He's doing better, but I still don't feel comfortable going across town without someone to keep an eye on him.

[Katara v. Death. Who will win??]

All right. Only if you want to come visit, though. I might be contagious. [...she doesn't think so. Katara's earlier diagnosis to Robin is probably spot on.]

[Katara remembers that diagnosis, and it's exactly why she thinks her healing might be effective. If something foreign was introduced to the body, then she should be able to isolate it and speed up the body's natural defenses... but then again, if she got sick, who'd take care of everyone else?]

Has anyone else over there gotten sick?

If they have, they're being incredibly quiet about it. [Never mind that out of all the Straw Hats, Nami seems to be the only one that gets sick, but hey.]

I'd expect Sanji to come down with it if anyone was going to around here. And he seems fine. [...healthwise anyway. But he's a kid. They tend to catch things fast.]

If no one else has gotten sick, I probably won't either.

When is a good time for you?

[...on second thought, she's had a really long day and a talk about taking care of herself first, but... she couldn't just make the offer and then not go. If she found out that she could help Nami, she'd just go back tomorrow.]

I'll be over after dinner.

[And so, after dinner Katara makes her way to house 6 and knocks on the door. ...She kind of misses the flag.]

[She wouldn't be the only one. At least it's hanging indoors? And it'll be Nami herself who shuffles to the door. Dressed in fluffy dressing gown and slippers, because that's the condition Robin set for getting out of bed. She feels like she's 10, honestly.]

Hey, Katara. Come on in.

[Aww, that looks so comfortable! And Katara comes on in.]

Hey, Nami. [You get the concerned look-over.] You look a little better.

Feel a little better, too. Honestly, it's just the cough now.

[...though coughing jags are generally what make her feel like hell. But hey.]

[Sick people should not be standing up. This is conventional reason that Katara firmly supports, so she moves further into the house.]

The new place is nice.

[Nami may notice that Katara's movements are a little more hesistant than usual. She's had quite a day. It's good to be out of the house.]

Yup. Even nicer given certain people don't know where it is.

[Don't worry, Katara. Nami's retreating to the comfort of one of the lounge chairs now. She's noticed the hesitance - marked it - but it could easily be due to the fact that this is Katara's first visit to their new home.

She'll hesitate before she sits down, however.] Did you want something to drink? You've eaten dinner, right?

[That gets a quick flash of a grin. Yes, yes she had eaten dinner. It had been fantastic.]

I could make us some tea. Does Sanji keep everything in the kitchen in the same place?

[She'll glance around and look for the kitchen. This is a hint, Nami. You: sit.]

Well, Sanji-kun didn't set up the kitchen this time. But most things are pretty much where they were, I think.

[Probably Nami and Usopp took charge of that part. Don't want to make Sanji twitch too much when he grew up again. And she'll smile at that implicit offer and sink into her seat with a cough as ...uh, subtle as she can make it.]

[The cough makes her frown and... reminds are that she is not here on a social visit. Tea with honey it is.] OK, I'll go make the tea.

And when I get back, I'll take a look at you.

[And once in the kitchen... Katara cheats. She's getting a lot better at heating water, it barely takes any effort at all. So as the tea seeps she puts together a tray of crackers, cheese, and vegetables - because she knows that after healing she will again be blessedly hungry - and a basin of water on a tray. Pouring a generous amount of honey into Nami's tea, Katara reenters the room.]

Hope you like honey in your tea. [Because you are drinking it anyway. Cheerful smile.] It's good for coughs.

This one time, when Sokka and I were sick... [She sets the tray between them and trails off with a mischievous quirk of her lips.]

[Grin.] I think I can manage honey.

[She herself is not all that hungry, but she'll make herself eat a little; being sick is one hell of an appetite killer. She'll reach down for her mug, and her eyebrows arch a little at that leading statement.]

What happened?

[She makes a face.] We were traveling. And we both came down with a fever that made us delerious - this was before we knew I could heal.

[She takes her own cup of tea and has a sip.] So Aang had to go and look for something to make us better. He found an old lady doctor in the hills... and she told him we had to suck on these frozen frogs to make us better.

[There was a flicker of something like pain when she said Aang's name, but it passes fast as lightning. Her smile is wry.] Waking up with a frog thawing in your mouth? Not fun. Sokka was convinced he had a wart on the flap in the back of his throat for weeks.

[She's expecting that a little when it comes to Aang, really. It hurts to lose friends here, even if you do know they go home. But Nami won't push on that particular point.

Instead, she lets the tea soothe the back of her throat a little before she makes a face as Katara finishes.]

Poor Sokka. [So amused.]

Did it work?

[She laughs a little.] If it didn't, we probably wouldn't be here.

[Yeah. They were really sick. And the Fire Nation was really close by. It wouldn't have been pretty.] But Aang came through.

Aah. One of those kinds of illnesses. That's how we met Chopper, actually.

I'm glad it worked.

Oh? How did you meet Chopper?

[And now she gives a wry smile.] Before we had Chopper, I was the only one with any real medical expertise on ship. So when I became sick, Luffy didn't really have much choice other than to put into port in search of a doctor.

And then, of course, we managed to find the only island that had a shortage of doctors at the time. There were only two. Chopper was one of them.

He's really young, but he's really talented. Turned out I'd got bitten by a rare kind of insect and it tends to be fatal. So ...he saved my life.

I see. [She pushes away the sudden sense of... fix it respnsibility that she feels. Death, Katara decides, is a real jerk, to keep intruding on her conversations like this.]

Well, I'm you all found each other. He came over to help with Zuko the other day, and he's been getting a lot better. I don't know very much about actual medicine... although I used to help my Gran Gran around the village with things like birthing and taking care of the sick.
