[Katara blinked. She thought she just had.] Well. We live on the South Pole. So the water is always cold. There are some natural springs inland which are warmer.

...in the spring, when the ice caps start to melt, the men of the village would go on whaling parties. We use up every part of the whale for supplies - bone to build with, skin for canvas, meat and oil for cooking and for supplies, teeth for swords... and at the end of the hunt, we thank the spirits for their bounty, the whales for their lives. There's a huge bonfire and ceremonial dances, feasting...

[Talking about this makes her miss home more - and not just home. The way things used to be.] Of course, for the past two years we just had to make due with what we could.
