[For no very specific reason at all, Katara is happy this late afternoon. The air is getting colder, and the very fact that it's nipping at her face is enough to make her smile. Add to that the glorious storm of yesterday, that it is still drizzling...

It's started drizzling as she runs her errands in town, and she puts a hand up to bend an 'umbrella' above her head as she walks along. She forgets herself, though, as she comes to some large puddles in the road, and dropping her hand, stares at them for half a beat.

Well, she's already wet.

So she jumps in. Not bending at all, simply splashing about in the puddles along her way.

Feel free to catch her in this rare display of immaturity and glee - or even join her! Hopefully she won't catch a cold.

Much later, as she prepares dinner for her house, she makes a voice post.]

Oh...... I see. [Sorry Katara, he's still having trouble imagining such a thing without the sun rune involved.]

As I said, It's very hard to imagine. Where I come from, the lack of a sun coming up might make people think something horrible would happen.

...ah, I see. [Pause. Reassess. How to be comforting...] Well, in my world the sun and the moon are both very important figures, not only for the obvious reasons, but also for their connection to [bending, except she'll never say that] the spirit world. If the sun went out for days at a time all over the world, it would be very upsetting for a lot of people, and we'd think it was horrible too.

But at the Poles, we're at the very edge of the world. Even though it's a little scary when you're younger, soon enough you accept it as just a part of life, like the whale hunts or the tiger seal. Personally, I think it's harder in the summer. When the sun doesn't go down, it makes it really hard to go to sleep.

[He's not scared by it, he just can't imagine it. However, when Katara puts it that way, it makes sense, just a little.] I see.... I suppose it's normal to accept it if you grew up with such a natural occurrence and it had always been that way.

Back home, we don't have "Poles". The Queendom of Falena is fairly far south, for example, but we live in a mild climate. So it's a phenomenon I am not familiar with.

I bet that most of the people in the other parts of my world don't think about it either. [And that's enough of that.]

So it's warm in your world's south?

I guess so? I've never been farther south then Falena, but I doubt Armes is cold at all judging by their manner of dress.

[Give him a second..] Well, he said you lived in the south pole, ate snow, traveled on snowdrifts, and fought armies of snowmen. When I asked him to confirm it, he said they were monsters. Suki agreed with him, and then he claimed you could create them which is apparently handy in battle against firebenders.

....I'm guessing he really did mean snow sculptures.

We do live in the South Pole, but we don't eat snow. The only way we'd travel on snowdrifts is if we were running from them, and armies of snowmen would get melted pretty fast by Fire Nation soldiers.

I....I see. [A sigh. Damn it, Sokka.] I guess he tricked me. My apologies.

No need to apologize. Sokka... likes doing stuff like that. [She's only marginally surprised that Suki went along with it.]
