[For no very specific reason at all, Katara is happy this late afternoon. The air is getting colder, and the very fact that it's nipping at her face is enough to make her smile. Add to that the glorious storm of yesterday, that it is still drizzling...

It's started drizzling as she runs her errands in town, and she puts a hand up to bend an 'umbrella' above her head as she walks along. She forgets herself, though, as she comes to some large puddles in the road, and dropping her hand, stares at them for half a beat.

Well, she's already wet.

So she jumps in. Not bending at all, simply splashing about in the puddles along her way.

Feel free to catch her in this rare display of immaturity and glee - or even join her! Hopefully she won't catch a cold.

Much later, as she prepares dinner for her house, she makes a voice post.]

The one I mean was in the form of a large, slim, blue dragon. He had a human form, too, though I don't know if he would have shown it to other humans. One of his best-known attacks is summoning a huge tidal-wave.

This one summoned a tidal-wave... but he didn't say anything about a human form.

I wish I'd known he might have been your friend! I would have brought him over to you. [D:]

It's alright. I managed a reunion with him anyway, at least for a little while. I'd hoped he could stay or help us, but I guess I should just be grateful that he could visit at all.

[She nods, sober for a moment.] I know what you mean.

[But she is refusing to permanently part from her happy today.] So are the people who lived under the ground like the people who lived on your world's second moon?

Oh, no. They're completely different. The Lunarians -the people of the moon- look like humans, but with whitish hair. Those below ground are either dwarves in settlements spread around the underworld, or Eidolons. Some Eidolons look human, but not all. Their forms vary widely; some appear as dragons, others has balls of flame, others as...well, let's just say there's a lot of variety. But they're not monsters. They're people, with their own town and society.

Oh wow. [This said very softly, as Katara takes time to just... try to imagine that. People who were balls of flame? Dragons? All living together? Just... wow.]

Did you live with them for a very long time?

Over a decade. I'm...not exactly sure how long. I lost track of the years, and time there is out of sync with that of the world above. When I returned, it had only been a few weeks or so since I'd left.

[Blink, blink, blink. Very softly:] Oh wow.

That must have been hard.

It was weird...but we had a job to do, so I focused on that. In fact, that's why I joined them. Leviathan thought I was ready; my training was done.

Leviathan was the one that trained you? In what?

Oh, no. I was trained by a lot of people, mostly in magic and summoning. Leviathan is king; he had a lot of other duties, but he did check on my progress a lot. After a while, he became a father-figure.

You do magic? I'd love to see that someday. [She's been wanting to learn how to fight against it since... Kefka.]

...what's summoning?

[About to comment on magic, but that question distracts her.]

It's a form of magic that allows me -and others like me- to summon Eidolons in battle. We have to earn it; Eidolons will only come to the aid of those who have bested them in combat. That's how they know the summoner is worth their time.

Oh. [Ponder, ponder, ponder.] So you can... call them, and they'll come to help you wherever you are?

Well, usually. It doesn't happen here...or at least it doesn't usually. I heard there's a way around it, but I haven't been able to reach the person who makes it possible.

Oh, I see. Well... it's not like you'd really want to bring them here, right?

No, I want them safe. But not having them around...it's sort of like you not being able to waterbend. It's just weird, you know?

Yeah, I can imagine. It's weird enough being at half power...

I know that feeling well enough. At least we still have something, though.

...and I suppose winter can't be all bad. I haven't had a good snowball fight since the last one.

It can be hard going through weather that you're not used to. [AKA, when will the summer EVER. END?] But at least in the winter you can pile on plenty of layers and curl up by the fire, and drink some hot tea.

And snowball fights are definitely fun! I bet we can get some good ones going here.

As soon as the first good snowfall hits, count on it happening.

[She grins, true enjoyment and happiness in her tone.] Something to look forward to, then! I'm glad.
