[Attention: The Universe

There is a teenage girl who has once again been made aware of your many injustices and is pissed. News at 11.

If you're drafted and she knows you, Katara is looking for you. Specifically Derek, Straw Hats, Ginko, and Katie. So she'll be stopping by the Straw Hat and Infinite Undiscovery House (and if she runs into that knight - well, he'd just better watch what he says) and making a few filters.

This, of course, is after she's gone to see Sokka with a very specific 'request.']

[Of course, feel free to bump into her at any point as she wanders around town looking to make deliveries and say goodbye/offer advice.]

[Ami touches her throat and shakes her head, somehow still smiling, as if the loss of her voice is no worse than a touch of laryngitis. She takes out her communicator, it's quicker that way, and types a quick message which she shows to Katara.]

...lost it how?

[This message, not exactly reassuring, comes with a swift, furtive glances that suggests discomfort with the topic.]

[It isn't exactly clear either.]

What do you mean?

[No, it really isn't. Ami supposes it will have to be. She glances down and keeps her eyes firmly on the device while she types her next message.]

[She holds it out for Katara to see, still without looking up.]

[Katara doesn't like this. Her eyes narrow in concern.]

...so it's not part of the experiment.

[The answer that comes back is final.]

[Concerned, Katara places her hand on Ami's shoulder.] Are you all right?

[This produces a closed-lipped, tight smile, and a nod. Ami disengages from the hand on her shoulder after a moment.]

[Katara lets her.]

You don't have to be okay if you're not okay. Even if you don't remember what happened... that's not all right, Ami. That's not all right at all.

[This, she refutes with a shake of her head.]

[She crosses her arms, eyes narrowing.] No, you're not. Something bad happened to you [someone KILLED you, didn't they] and you don't even remember it. And now you can't speak. That's not all right, Ami. You might be dealing with it, but you shouldn't say it's all right. That's just not true. It was wrong.

So - what are you saying? That you're okay with this? Or that you forgive whoever did this to you because it wasn't their fault? Because they're two very different things.

[That is certainly a telling question, and Ami flinches just enough to be noticeable; though it may simply be from the bluntness of the question. She gathers herself together and makes her answer.]

...it's not okay, Ami. You can forgive anyone you're strong enough to, that's not my business. But don't think that you deserved this or anything, because you didn't.

[Yeah, Katara thought it was something like that.] You can't blame yourself for anything that happened when you were like that. It wasn't really you.

[If only. She knows how much was her own pettiness, her own grudges and jealousies.]

[Katara shakes her head sadly.] I guess I can understand why you'd feel that way, but I still think you're wrong - there's no reason for you to feel bad about things that happened which you couldn't control.
