So, we can use these things to contact everyone? That's pretty neat ~~if really really weird.~~ I think I'll start of writing, though, because talking to a book still seems like something Dock would do.

That's got to be annoying, for so many people to look at something if you just want to talk to one or two people. The guide said something about being able to filter these things? But I don't really see how that could work...

[So not one to stay copped up in the house, Katara is going to pack up her journal and her waterskin and bundle up. They're in the middle of a cold snap, but now that she has shoes the freezing doesn't really bother her so much. She's going to head on over to the grocery store to get some soup ingredients and check out the other buildings. She's friendly! Feel free to say hello!]

[Cold? Oh right, cold. Katara's coat is open in the store. Have a sympathetic smile.] I'm used to this kind of weather. It's not so bad when you're bundled up good! Turtleseal skin makes great boots, and it can be watertight. [Shrug] The clothes they have here are different, but they still work. You're from someplace warmer, huh?

Well yeah. I lived in the south of Amestris, so it rarely ever snowed there.

Really? That's funny, you're the second person I've met who associates the south with warmth. Where we're from, the Fire Nation is the warmest place, and it's somewhere in the middle.

Amestris is the center Country though. To the south of us is Aerugo.

[Katara follows along, just looking at all the food that's on the shelves. The selection really amazes her, along with the fact that they don't have to pay.] Aerguo? Is that another country?

[She picks up a loaf of bread and laughs a little with how easy it is. She speaks mostly to herself.] This is so much better than rock crawlers.

Yep!

Than what?

Cave crawlers. Or cave hoppers. [Katara made a face] You have to eat some pretty strange things sometimes when you're on the road. Momo didn't seem to mind, but I was glad we didn't have to hide out there long.

[Katara shakes it off.] Yeah. It worked out, though! That's what helped convince Sokka we could hide out in the open instead of just going from cave to cave. [A wry, affectionate laugh] You don't want to get between him and his meat.

[She may or may not be observing Winry's reaction to her mention of Sokka out of the corner of her eye.]

Yeah I can see that.

[Katara is picking some vegetables she recognizes. If she chops them up really finely and puts them in the soup, it's possible that Sokka and Toph will eat them.]

Those are a lot of apples just to eat. Or are you planning on baking something?

I'm going to be baking an apple pie.

That sounds delicious!

Well, I hope you guys like it.

...you're making us a pie?

There's a problem with that?

No! It's just the first I've heard about it. Are you coming over for dinner? Do you want something besides soup?

Well, I don't know when exactly I was supposed to come over, but sure! And soup sounds fine.

[Have a smile] Well, I wouldn't want you to have to go through the trouble of making it if you weren't going to do that already. But you're welcome to come any time!

[She guesses. She's friends with Sokka, after all. It doesn't take much to guess who asked her to bake a pie.]
