So, we can use these things to contact everyone? That's pretty neat ~~if really really weird.~~ I think I'll start of writing, though, because talking to a book still seems like something Dock would do.

That's got to be annoying, for so many people to look at something if you just want to talk to one or two people. The guide said something about being able to filter these things? But I don't really see how that could work...

Tormod, you can have your cape back whenever you want. Have you found a place to stay yet?

And hey, if there's a Hugo or a Derek out there, I'd like to talk to you for a few minutes.

[So not one to stay copped up in the house, Katara is going to pack up her journal and her waterskin and bundle up. They're in the middle of a cold snap, but now that she has shoes the freezing doesn't really bother her so much. She's going to head on over to the grocery store to get some soup ingredients and check out the other buildings. She's friendly! Feel free to say hello!]

That's very nice of you! I think my brother is going to show me when I get home now, but I'll take any tips I can get.

I'm in town now - I'm happy to meet any place that works for you. I still don't know where a lot of places here are, though.

Do you know where the cafe is? Or the library?

I could probably find it. [Katara has bad memories of libraries.] How does the cafe sound?

Fine by me. There's excellent coffee there, too.

OK, that sounds great. Thanks.

[So she'll head on over to the cafe and look around.]

[And Derek shows up soon after, obviously looking around the place for her.]

[Katara will glance at the picture in the journal and then up around to him. He doesn't look like anyone she's ever seen before, and there's more of that odd colored hair. But she'll smile and approach.]

Derek? I'm Katara.

[Derek turns around and sees her, nodding and returning the smile as he closes the distance between them. Once they're face to face, he'll slightly bow his head at her, then gesture to a pair of nearby seats]

Hello, Katara. Nice to meet you. Want to sit down?

[And she smiles and also inclines her head] Yes. Thank you for meeting with me like this.

[She'll walk over to a table and sit with her back towards a wall]

[Derek will follow, and since she took the wall sea, he'll take the next one that allows him to watch the front door, but not so that he crowds her.]

It's no problem; I've been trying to meet as many new people as I can anyway. Figure it's best to at least get an idea of who I'm sharing space with. Did you want coffee?

[She feels a little better already when she sees where he chooses to sit down. The four of them had been fighting so long that she's learned to pick up little clues as to whether or not someone can hold their own.]

That makes sense! It seems like there are so many people here from so many different places... if it wasn't so horrible, it would be amazing. [Coffee. She's never had coffee, but soda was great, so...] Sure, I'll have some coffee if you will.

Yeah. There's definitely folks of all kinds here.

Give me just a sec.

[Derek makes his way to the counter, getting them both a cup of coffee. He hesitates for a second, and then puts them on a try, along with some sugar and cream, bringing it all back with him. he settles the try on the table between them before claiming one of the cups for himself and taking a sip.]

Didn't know how you liked it, so I brought stuff back with me so you can fix it up.

[No worries, Derek. She doesn't know how she likes it either.] It smells good!

[And she'll just pick up that cup of coffee, black, and take a sip. Ohthat'sbitter!! She'll swallow it down quickly and try not to make a face.] Hot.

[Derek smiles at her.] Good for the cold weather, [He says.] It's also good with cream and sugar in it [Or so he's been told...]

[Be that as it may, she's not touching that stuff again. The world is not prepared for a Katara hyped up on caffeine. But she'll pour a little cream in it and hold it in her hands to warm them.] But you like it plain?

[It is beyond her how anyone could like this stuff.]

[Derek shrugs a little, smiling] I got used to it when I was young. Not much of a fan of most sugar, either. It's not for everyone, especially when it's straight up, but it's a good pick me up when you need it.
