[If you're passing by the Seventh Heaven after school today, you will see that once Katara has obtained her hot chocolate and window seat, she's busy flipping through her journal. At a certain point, she'll flip back and forth repeatedly with a poleaxed expression that finally fades into something pensive.

February 7th... and February 7th... it's been a year.

At home, while making dinner, Katara will make a voice post.]

...does anyone else ever get the feeling here that time is really, really weird? I mean, we have the experiments every month and the seasons change, but - it's like things can just sneak up on you. Maybe it's because we know that time stands still at home?

[Later, Katara will leave dinner early. She's glad that Sokka and Suki have made up, but she really didn't need to see that. Or that. Or that. The light snowfall makes for a surreal Luceti landscape and a perfect night to practice. If you're passing by, you might notice that Katara's practice routine is different than normal. For one thing - she keeps stopping after doing a move instead of flowing seamlessly into the next. For another, there's a scroll she has propped up on a rock with a portable lantern.

[Yukito was just heading back toward the kitchen at Seventh Heaven, going in to work before people started to show up for dinner, but pauses when he notices the girl staring at her journal like that. After half a second's pause he moves over toward where she's sitting, with a grin both very friendly and a touch shy.]

I beg your pardon, but... is something wrong?

[Katara blinks and looks up. Oh - an unfamiliar face. She smiles a little.]

Oh - no. I just - realized I'd forgotten something. Thanks for asking.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if time works...differently in Luceti. Don't ask me how, but I'm sure it's possible.

[Someone taking her literally? Unexpected. Still.]

You think so? I mean, I can kind of understand how things stay still at home while we're here... or not understand it, but believe it. But it's not like time can really be different... right?

[BAMF! Katara, you have your first stalker of the day on the roof. He watches her for just a bit. Usually her forms are so much smoother, but for some reason she keeps stopping. What's up with that?]

[BAMFs make a distinct noise, and it is not forest-like. So Katara glances over to the sound. Sadly, you blend in pretty well with the general darkness thing winter has going, Kurt, and since she's been looking in the lamplight, she doesn't see much.]

[An evening out is just what Alexis needed today. It hasn't been a bad day -- not at all -- but... Well, Luceti isn't New York and, every now and again, Alexis begins to feel the sheer weight of this not being anything like home pressing down on her.

She goes a different way than she normally does and it's the familiar figure she spots in the corner of her eye that has her going out of her way. Katara is a friend; Alexis' mouth curves into a genuine smile -- a smile that becomes a look of awe as she sees what Katara is actually doing.

She'd say something if words weren't completely caught in her throat.]

[Don't mind her, Alexis. She'll just keep working her way through this form. It's Southern Water Style, so she's concentrating on it very hard, learning as she goes.]

I don't think time passes any differently here, but it certainly feels that way. I hadn't even realized that I've been here for almost a year until someone asked me a few days ago.

[Ian's quite a wanderer (hell, he hasn't even settled into one particular apartment yet, he's so used to wandering), and as he's doing so tonight he notices a girl.

This is that one girl! The one when he was water! It's dark, so she won't really notice him from around a tree peeping in awe, right? Because that's precisely what he's going to do.]

I was here for a year. And I've been here awhile already this time, too. It sort of seems to happen faster than that.

[Derek hadn't really intended to go this way after he'd woken up from his day in the tunnels, but he was still worried about April, so the intention had been to skim by house 55 before heading out into the woods. He has a backpack slung over a shoulder, and several camping tools attached to his belt. He's sticking to the shadows, making use of cover to help him pass unseen, but when he sees Katara practicing, he'll stop to watch for a moment.]

[Katara starts a bit at the unexpected voice, but it's familiar enough that she doesn't react with ice.]

[A late-night stroll is just what is needed, yes. Asbel was walking through town, when he noticed the dance-like movements of Katara. It wasn't exactly something he thought he'd encounter, but... they are quite entrancing to watch.

So don't mind Asbel as he observes you practicing, Katara.]

[She can't mind what she's oblivious to! So she'll continue to practice for a bit. She's almost got this new form down! She can't wait to start working on integrating the styles. But now it's time to take another look at the scroll - will she see him on the way?]

It seems like a natural feeling to me. Time is always flowing, and we can't always keep up with it, or keep track of it, even with calendars and daily routines. Or perhaps it's because of those that we don't think so much about it, until we're aware of certain dates, and then have to take that step back to wonder, perhaps, and reassess ourselves.

Time is always going to feel differently depending on what you do with it, what you've done, even if it's still being measured the same way. At least... that is how it seems to me.

...and she's not quite sure how she feels about this at all, despite dropping a trolling Christmas present for him with Raine. Still, he hadn't even spoken to her after the last draft, and now this?

I never really notice how much time is going by until I look back later. It always seems like things are going slow right now and just used to be faster. [ Long as he's got friends and things to look out for, he's willing to accept it. ]

You think so? The days feel the same, about, as days in my village at home, even though there's less work and more people. It's just looking back on the whole time that makes me feel like... things have gone by really fast.
