[All right, enough of this. It's Spring and she still loves Spring (only her third Spring ever!) and Katara has decided she is going to enjoy it. No school today, so in the late morning to mid afternoon, if you are by the paths along the river you will see one (1) Katara, with a basket and her knife, taking cuttings of wildflowers. She's careful not to take too much from any one tree or bush, and she's clearly enjoying herself.]

[General Voice]
I think my favorite part about Spring is the flowers. We just didn't have anything like this where I grew up. Although in the summers I'd go on a hunt for Mouse Ears. [She pauses, remembering the last time she'd done that...] Or at least I did when I was a kid. I even found one once!

But for all you people who grew up with flowers like this - what was it like, in your Springs? Did you have any fun flower traditions?

[And after the wildflowers have been turned into bouquets, it's time to go visiting! If she hasn't seen you or heard from you in a while, and she knows where you live, your house/apartment is Fair Game.

[Hmm. That was everyone she needed to talk to, right? Hopefully that was it. If it wasn't, she hopes she'll bump into people during the day. Like Sokka - an idea has occurred to her which needs discussing.]

Aah. [Her gaze is sympathetic.] That's hard. How are you settling in? Is there anyone from your world here?

Yes, one of the people I travel with. [it may be best for now not to mention the others. She's still getting used to the idea of both of them.]

It has been all right so far.

I'm glad to hear that. I think it makes it easier when there's someone here that you know. Where are you from? Maybe I know them.

[Katara tries to get to know as many people as she can - but the village is a big place.]

I am from Imil. ...It is a town in the northern mountains of Weyard. [it feels so strange to have to explain that to someone.] My friend's name is Piers.

Is there someone here from your home as well?

Piers, huh? [Hmm, hmm... and she shakes her head.] I think I've seen him on the journals, but we haven't met.

[Her smile turns a bit wry.] Actually, there are a lot of people from my world here. My brother, a few of my friends... and even a few people we met on our travels. Sokka, my brother, has been here a few months longer than I have. But some of the people from my world just came the last cycle.

[So... if you're waiting for someone else, don't give up hope that they might show... or that you might get to go.]

That's a lot of people.

[she wouldn't feel right, to have that many of her friends here. Even if it's true that their time has stopped - the world is in danger without them. Without Isaac, at the very least.]

I know. It's weird. [And she shrugs. If they're going to all be stuck here, though... well, it does make it easier for her if they're together.]

But at least we know what they say is true - time really does stand still until we get back. We're all from different points in time, and none of us remembers anyone else as missing.

[it shows on her face how much of a relief that really is to hear.]

I'm still...trying to understand how being in the same place but from a different time is possible.

It's not easy to understand. I'm not sure anyone knows how it works. The nearest that I can figure is that it doesn't matter when people come from, because they're put back at the same time.

It all sounds so unbelievable.

I know. But... it gets easier to believe the longer you're here. Maybe you'll be lucky, and you won't have time to get used to it.

[Mia nods, then kneels there in the grass and brushes her fingers across one little bunch of wildflowers]

[Katara blinks. Then smiles.]

They're very pretty, aren't they.

We didn't have much time to stop and look at flowers. ...And these are a variety I have never seen before.

Violets? They are very pretty, aren't they?

[Pause.]

What do you mean, you didn't have time?

They are. ...We did not have many flowers in my home.

[Well, if this really is a different world, she can tell her, can't she?]

We were traveling and had to move too quickly to spend much time in any one place.

[Katara nods sympathetically.] I know what that's like. Some days I think we spent more time in the saddle than out of it.

[an almost-wistful smile, but the tone is a drier one]

We just walked. [forever. Or at least until they got a boat.]

Bleck. Walking is definitely not the best way to travel.

It wasn't so bad until we reached some of the warmer climates.

[another distant smile] After a while we were able to use a ship.

Wow. It sounds like you had a long way to go.

Very nearly all over the world.

[Katara smiles brightly.] That's what we did too! We left my home in the South Pole to travel all the way up to the North Pole. It sounds like you have an exciting story to tell.

The 'south pole'?

It's the continent on the southmost part of the world. Don't you have poles in your world?
