[All right, enough of this. It's Spring and she still loves Spring (only her third Spring ever!) and Katara has decided she is going to enjoy it. No school today, so in the late morning to mid afternoon, if you are by the paths along the river you will see one (1) Katara, with a basket and her knife, taking cuttings of wildflowers. She's careful not to take too much from any one tree or bush, and she's clearly enjoying herself.]

[General Voice]
I think my favorite part about Spring is the flowers. We just didn't have anything like this where I grew up. Although in the summers I'd go on a hunt for Mouse Ears. [She pauses, remembering the last time she'd done that...] Or at least I did when I was a kid. I even found one once!

But for all you people who grew up with flowers like this - what was it like, in your Springs? Did you have any fun flower traditions?

[And after the wildflowers have been turned into bouquets, it's time to go visiting! If she hasn't seen you or heard from you in a while, and she knows where you live, your house/apartment is Fair Game.

[Hmm. That was everyone she needed to talk to, right? Hopefully that was it. If it wasn't, she hopes she'll bump into people during the day. Like Sokka - an idea has occurred to her which needs discussing.]

Some summers we did, but you still had to look to find them. They didn't grow everywhere.

[There's a momentary silence.]

Katara, shall we go for a walk together? To look for the flowers?

Oh - well, I'm actually already out walking now. And then I have a few visits to make... but if you'd like, you can come and meet me!

I'd like that. What time and where should we meet?

Well, I'm working my way up towards town by the riverbank. You could come meet me along there, any time you like.

[She closes the journal after they say their goodbyes, and heads out for a leisurely walk to give Katara the chance to take care of more of her business before they meet up. She smiles once she sees her fellow water-user.]

Good afternoon.

[Katara smiles at her.]

Hi, Ami. How are you?

I'm doing well. It feels nice to be outside.

Good! I'm glad you could make it. It's a beautiful day to be out.

[And Katara continues walking along the river, inviting Ami to join her.]

[Ami gives Katara a sidelong look, a tiny smile, and- reaches down to slip off her shoes. Yep, someone's going in. Wading a bit shouldn't be too cold.]

[Katara smiles at Ami and turns her attention to the bunch of Queen Anne's Lace by the riverside.]

How's the water?

It's still chilly, but I sort of like that.

[Katara nods.] You'll probably get used to it after a little while.

[And she takes out her knife to start in on the flowers.]

If it's too cold, the feet will go numb. But they'll still warm up later.

[Her mouth twists in wry remembrance.]

If you can stand to be in it, it's probably not that bad. Swimming lessons at the South Pole? Those were pretty cold.

It's what you'd call a "polar bear club".
