[All right, enough of this. It's Spring and she still loves Spring (only her third Spring ever!) and Katara has decided she is going to enjoy it. No school today, so in the late morning to mid afternoon, if you are by the paths along the river you will see one (1) Katara, with a basket and her knife, taking cuttings of wildflowers. She's careful not to take too much from any one tree or bush, and she's clearly enjoying herself.]

[General Voice]
I think my favorite part about Spring is the flowers. We just didn't have anything like this where I grew up. Although in the summers I'd go on a hunt for Mouse Ears. [She pauses, remembering the last time she'd done that...] Or at least I did when I was a kid. I even found one once!

But for all you people who grew up with flowers like this - what was it like, in your Springs? Did you have any fun flower traditions?

[And after the wildflowers have been turned into bouquets, it's time to go visiting! If she hasn't seen you or heard from you in a while, and she knows where you live, your house/apartment is Fair Game.

That makes sense. It sounds like a nice tradition to have.

She always kept the back yard gorgeous. Plus? Convenient flower-picking supply when I was younger. Not that she ever approved.

Maybe not... but it sounds like it was fun.

It was nice. Besides, it's a little tough to find the wild kind in suburbia.

Oh. [Pause.] Is 'suburbia' like a city?

It's like the houses just outside a city. Sort of still in the city. Residential communities.

Oh, I see. So you lived near a city, but not in a city?

...Sort of. I mean -- the city wasn't far. I could walk downtown, easily.

Oh. That's... kind of hard for me to picture. Did you grow up in a place like that your whole life?

Sort of. I mean -- I used to live in a bigger city, but that just meant a bigger suburb.

[ a beat: ] You're from a pretty small village, right? Sokka told me.

[Wry:] Yeah, you could definitely say that we were pretty small. We were right by the ocean, though, so it was a good spot to stay, for fishing and hunting.

Just less so the sunbathing and the swimming, right?

[Katara laughs.] We all had to learn swimming the hard way. [They're a water-based people and falling out of boats is kind of inevitable.] And trust me, you learned to swim really, really fast.

And there wasn't really much emphasis on sunbathing.

Then the beach should be super-fun this summer for you kids.

[Kids?]

Probably. I know Sokka's excited about the teleportation thing he and Leon designed.
