[All right, enough of this. It's Spring and she still loves Spring (only her third Spring ever!) and Katara has decided she is going to enjoy it. No school today, so in the late morning to mid afternoon, if you are by the paths along the river you will see one (1) Katara, with a basket and her knife, taking cuttings of wildflowers. She's careful not to take too much from any one tree or bush, and she's clearly enjoying herself.]

[General Voice]
I think my favorite part about Spring is the flowers. We just didn't have anything like this where I grew up. Although in the summers I'd go on a hunt for Mouse Ears. [She pauses, remembering the last time she'd done that...] Or at least I did when I was a kid. I even found one once!

But for all you people who grew up with flowers like this - what was it like, in your Springs? Did you have any fun flower traditions?

[And after the wildflowers have been turned into bouquets, it's time to go visiting! If she hasn't seen you or heard from you in a while, and she knows where you live, your house/apartment is Fair Game.

There are, however, a few people she needs to speak with about a few specific things, so it's time for some courtesy filters! These are not very strong and mostly to prevent your journals from spam]

[Filtered to Shikamaru]
Hey - you up for a spar later?

[Filtered to Nami]
...are those mikans still up for grabs?

[Filtered to Trafalgar Law]
...would you mind if I stopped by?

[Filtered to Zoro]
...hey. I haven't seen you, and I think we should talk.

[Hmm. That was everyone she needed to talk to, right? Hopefully that was it. If it wasn't, she hopes she'll bump into people during the day. Like Sokka - an idea has occurred to her which needs discussing.]

Yeah. It's ... either they created it from my memory or they Shifted it here, or...I don't know how they do it. But for the experiment-- [She breaks off, reaching in through the open door to lift out a basket perched on the closest barrel, offering it to Katara. It's half full of mikans.] Here.

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-10 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Nami goes still.

She'd been waiting for that, to be honest. And trying to work out what she'd say in response, and she still hasn't managed to think of something that would just ...make things easier, or pretend everything's fine. It's not fine. That's blindingly obvious.

She leans against the shed door, voice quiet.]

Hardly like I'm the only one.

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
You're wrong. [Her voice is colder than she'd like, and so Nami pauses. When she speaks again, she's quiet, and she glances at Katara briefly over her shoulder before turning back to the mikans.] Katara, I'm not out here because I think I have to be by myself.

[I'm out here because I'm avoiding Zoro.]

I know you're my friend. And I appreciate that you're worried. I won't ever forget that people care.

[...]

...It's complicated.

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
[The problem is, Nami doesn't know how to explain this. It's a tangle of too many threads and she has no idea how to begin untangling it. Or where to begin explaining. Or even if she should.

In the end, Katara's silence is too painful, and Nami speaks just to fill it.]

I spent... close to eight years stealing from pirates, bigger and stronger and tougher than I was. You don't... you don't succeed at that unless you're smarter than they are. Or you find something-- a way to distract them. Nearly all pirates are men, did you know? But despite that--

[...

...]
I--

[--shouldn't be talking about this.]

...I'll work it out.

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm.

[She considers for a brief few seconds trying to explain-- decides against it, it's too personal, she's not the only one involved. Decides also that Katara's perceptive enough to understand. Nami takes a breath.]

I'm not the only one hurt by this. [She's already said that. So she qualifies.] What about you?

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Her lips tighten as Katara speaks. She shouldn't be surprised that Katara is on first name terms with Law. But Zoro... there's a kick of spite in her chest, and she thinks if you weren't friends then there's nothing to fix.

Too bitter by far. She swallows it and gives a faint nod.]

Zoro will appreciate the direct approach.

...what about Zuko?

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-27 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
...I understand.

Not running away is... a good sign. You'll be able to work it out?

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-28 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
...good luck.

[She means it. Though they both know pretending it never happened is bound to blow up eventually (and yet Nami finds herself wondering if she should just do the same thing)-- and she distracts herself from that thought process by glancing down at the basket and then smiling.]

They won't last long. A couple days at most.

[identity profile] mikangirl.livejournal.com 2011-05-29 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Grin.] You better have one now, then.

[...]

Thanks for checking on me.

[Each one these gets a little less surprising as we go, you know? And yet Nami holds herself still just a moment, the way she always does, before giving a faint sigh and wrapping her arms around Katara, smiling faintly into her shoulder.

You're the only one, Katara. Did you know?]

...thanks.

[Again.]
