[All right, enough of this. It's Spring and she still loves Spring (only her third Spring ever!) and Katara has decided she is going to enjoy it. No school today, so in the late morning to mid afternoon, if you are by the paths along the river you will see one (1) Katara, with a basket and her knife, taking cuttings of wildflowers. She's careful not to take too much from any one tree or bush, and she's clearly enjoying herself.]

I think my favorite part about Spring is the flowers. We just didn't have anything like this where I grew up. Although in the summers I'd go on a hunt for Mouse Ears. [She pauses, remembering the last time she'd done that...] Or at least I did when I was a kid. I even found one once!

But for all you people who grew up with flowers like this - what was it like, in your Springs? Did you have any fun flower traditions?

[And after the wildflowers have been turned into bouquets, it's time to go visiting! If she hasn't seen you or heard from you in a while, and she knows where you live, your house/apartment is Fair Game.

Yes, but they're different. Hardier, I suppose, and they don't bloom as often or for as long. It's usually after a rain.

[And Katara imagines the deserts she's seen, suddenly covered in flowers...]

That sounds really beautiful.

[That makes her smile.] Oh, it is! It may not happen as often as other places, but I think that only makes it more special.

It's nice to meet you too, Vivi. I'm Katara. I think I saw you around a little during the experiment?

[The mention of the experiment damps down her enthusiasm just a bit, though her voice is still warm and friendly.]

Ah. Yes, I think I remember. I know I saw you there at the mikan harvest... [And she trails off as she accidentally reminds herself of some other things she'd rather not think about.]

[Ah - sorry, Vivi. This has been on Katara's mind a lot today. But she senses that awkward and tries to change the subject.]

So have you been here long?

[She shakes her head.] No, not that long. [She pauses to count it up, and is a little surprised.] Hm. Around a month and a half, now. That's actually longer than I expected.

What about you, Katara-san?

I think we've all been here longer than we've expected. I've been here... a little over a year now. And please, call me Katara.

Ah. Katara. I'm sorry, I'll try to remember.

...I suppose I need to get used to the idea that I'll probably be here for quite a while. [She gives a small laugh.] It's not that bad, though. A lot of my friends are here. Nami-san mentioned you were a friend of hers too. So it's nice to meet you properly.

Oh, are you from their world too?

Yes, we're from the same place. I haven't traveled with them or seen them in months, though, so being together here is almost a blessing.

[...a blessing, huh?]

...I can understand how nice it must be to see old friends again.

[Everyone keeps telling her how bad it is here, and by this point she's seen some of it for herself, but as far as Vivi's concerned, her nakama outweigh the bad by a long shot.]

They're more than just old friends, really. In a lot of ways, they're more like family.

Are you all from the same island?

Oh, no. We're all from different islands, actually. Though Luffy-san, Nami-san, Usopp-san, Sanji-san, and Mr. Bushi--I mean, Zoro-san--are all from East Blue, I think. Tony-kun and I are from the Grand Line, and... [She stops for a moment, thinking.]

...I'm not actually sure what part of the world Brook-san is from.

Oh. So how did you meet them?

[How they first met? ...eheh. That's...actually sort of embarrassing, to be perfectly honest.] Ah. It's sort of a long story...

The simpler version is, we met when they were entering the Grand Line, and they brought me back to Alabasta...and saved my kingdom in the process.
