[Should you be passing by the bridge between the clinic and the Item Shop on this fine, finally-a-break-from-the-heat afternoon, you will notice that there has been a certain change in the landscape. A large wall, seemingly made out of one solid chunk of earth has appeared by the riverbank and painted white. At varying points in the day there may also be some spheres, pyramids, inverted pyramids appearing beside the wall... and that white wall is on its way to becoming multicolored.

There by the wall is a large sheet and on it rest pretty much every container of water-soluble paint found in the Item Shop, mainly strong primary colors. There are balloons and small buckets and bowls, and just about everything you could want in order to throw paint at a white wall.

Random passerby, what do you do? Continue on your way and hope not to get splashed with mud, water, or paint? Stop to wonder at this strange work of 'art?' Or if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, there does seem to be more than enough paint...]

[She grins happily, picking up a bucket.]

Let's have some fun~!

[And a great big splash of purple flies through the air!]

[Katara grins when the Souji just starts right in. See? She knew this was a great idea. And she watches him out of the corner of her eye, wondering why she hadn't noticed him around Luceti before...

So she's actually a little startled at the question.] Well, I thought it would be fun. I didn't want to do it inside, and Toph could build the wall pretty easily... plus, I figured this way other people could join in if they wanted to.

It's been a stressful month for a lot of people so I thought... [She trails off, shrugs a little and traces an abstract design on a mix of blue and red paint.] It's just kind of nice.

[An annoyed twitch appears in her forehead for a moment at the implied condescension, but she still doesn't turn around and her tone is even.]

Not really.

[Her conscience is being strangely silent on her surly treatment of a certain young Silverberg. Will it have a chance to revive, or does the strategist sense another opportunity?]

Just you! [Bright, dangerous grin before Katara throws some more paint on the wall.]

[It had been a real question, but he isn't unused to people looking for everything wrong with what he does.]

I see. Will this thing be sticking around when you finish?

[He knows what her friend is capable of, so he figures it could go either way.]

[Katara laughs.]

Nice shot! [And she throws on some more blue.]

[Ah, but as far as Katara's concerned, Caesar's made his opinion of her abundantly clear. So she does not have to go looking very hard.

And she closes her eyes and sighs - why is he still here? They hadn't spoken this much since he was a kid.]

We hadn't decided yet.

[She takes a half-step back from the wall, her hand dripping a mess of paint, and turns to face him.]

If a lot of people end up helping paint it, we might leave everything up for about a week. If not, we'll probably take it down.

So you did it to help people relax, huh...I see. [He picks up some of the yellow paint and continues from where he splattered his initial batch.

Hm, wait a sec, there's a name he doesn't recognize in there.] Who's Toph?

[Ah - backtracking. He'd surprised her with the question and she hadn't meant to let quite so much information out.]

...well, isn't it relaxing?

[Katara's version of backtracking is not like other people's version of backtracking, clearly.]

Toph's a friend of mine from back home. She made the wall. She's down by the riverbank right now. I think she's going to work on building some different shapes with the mud.

Blue's a cute color for you, Katara-chin~!

[Reeeeeaching for a balloon now. Don't turn around~.]

[...How did he do that?]

Sure! Break time it is.

[She crosses in front of him and bends her own little chair out of the earth and sits down.]

Well, duh! I can see shapes with my bending. My feet see for me. [It occurs to her that she probably never explained this to her before, however. So Fenimore can have a non-sarcastic explanation.]

I feel the vibrations in the earth around me. I can see things a lot more clearly than most regular people, actually.

[Temari's response is a muted chuckle.] Okay, yeah. I'll go with that.

[She goes to the nearest bucket of paint and gingerly pokes at a sponge. Yes, Katara, that's her thinking face. Give her a moment, because throwing things and making a mess does sound awfully tempting.]

Great. [Clearly, she is thrilled about this. Her arms cross as she turns in the direction of the voice. Stupid floating voice. She doesn't like it when she can't see who she's talking to.]

So you know all about the great Toph Bei Fong then, huh?

[Oh-ho-ho, she sees that sponge.]

You can use those to make patterns once the paint's on the wall - but I think it's more fun to throw it on first.

[Sanji can't help the way the Malnosso screwed with him]

Oh, I wouldn't say all. [Frankly, he never thought to ask her much. Toph was Toph and she always made that clear enough] But enough to know you're apparently the greatest Earthbender in your world.

[And that you definitely can't see him >>]

[Iroh's hands whip up more tea in a flurry of sparks]

And here you are, I hope you like it. So...if you made the wall, did Katara make the paint?

[YEAH WELL.]

So what are you two even trying to do anyway?

[Toph sips the tea and nods.] And then she's been painting with her bending. I'd ask what it looks like, but I don't exactly have context for these kinds of things.

[i.e. colors. Not exactly her thing.]

[And Toph can't help but be mad about something that's out of his control. >|]

You've got that right. Lemme ask you this: did I like you before?

[Because if not she's so going to start ignoring him.]

You and I liked each other just fine, but wouldn't it be better to judge for yourself instead of relying on the past?

[Temari glances at Katara, impish look in full force, before she pulls off her gloves and tucks them into her belt. She picks up a small bucket of bright red paint. She considers the wall for a good, oh, two seconds or so before she flings paint at it.]

Hey, I trust the past me. [After all, that Toph realized Masaomi was a moron, too, so she had some warning ahead of time.] I'm not gonna waste my time if I didn't last time around.

[Sanji's been in Luceti for nearly two years. And a few of the decisions he's made would seem odd to a Sanji just arriving. He doesn't think things are that simple.

But neither is he gonna argue about little things, so he just smiles and nods] In that case, you've got your answer.
