BACKDATED to the 7th [ Video ] .046

[Katara very carefully sets up the journal to record only her hands on the koto. She's never played before anyone before, and is a little bit nervous... but mostly determined. Brook had always said that music was to make people happy. He'd been teaching her for months. And now he was gone. And Zoro was gone.

This is her tribute to them.

There are a few parts where she stumbles, some moments where the rhythm is off... but in the end, she finishes, carefully avoids the camera, and shuts the journal.

This isn't a side of herself she's ready to share with many people, so she's taken pains to avoid identification, although if you know her well or are particularly observant, the skin color and flashes of blue may give her away. Due to this fact, and the fact that I'm backtagging to the extreme right now, responses to comments, if there are any, will come 'the next day (June 8th),' and probably be very slow.]

[Awkward musicians unite?

Have some carefully plucked Bink's Sake on her guitar in exchange, Katara.]

[she won't respond, but she'll listen quietly to this, staring off at something unseen as she lets the music play through the journal.]

[It's left only as a carefully recorded message, and the player is entirely out of frame, but some time in the night a wood flute rendition of her song appears, slow and low and slightly fey.

Music speaks to Sigmund. He understands what this is, though not why; but why never matters to one who is grieving. When he's done, he stops and plays the song back for himself. The performance sounds effortless, so unlike the clumsy, fumbling attempts at care that motivate it. He can almost pretend that Capell is still here, and that he left this song...

...She can as well, if she likes.]

[Derek's been silent since he came back from the draft, but when he hears the music, and manages to catch glimpses, he makes a guess as to who it is. He's not sure for the reason for the impromptu music, but he will start to very quietly play a supportive counter melody on his own guitar--just loud enough that she could hear it...but quiet enough to not interfere with her own playing.

Like her, he'll stay out of sight, instead leaving the journal's camera pointed at a field of wildflowers.]
