[There's a somewhat familiar voice over the journals this afternoon. The setting is clearly the forest, as there are small woodland creatures scampering about. The voice itself seems to have an almost musical lilt to it.]

Hi, everyone! I'm back. I'm sorry if I worried you. Everything seems to be in one piece, and I'm making my way back to town now! Of course, my powers are missing, but they'll be back soon enough!

[Does it seem a little odd for Katara to be casually mentioning such an obvious weakness over an open network, or to be referring to her bending as 'powers?' It gets weirder. Because eventually she'll make her way out of the forest, and you may bump into her as she'll head towards the fountain and all around town. Is she... are those sparkles? And weren't her eyes blue? Why is her hair lighter? What is going on here?]

[Oh, Katara just brightens at the sound of her dearest friends voice! She practically dances over to her.]

Toph! It's so good to see you!

[Not that Toph isn't glad to see her, too, but--why the heck was she moving like that?]

Yeah, yeah, it's good to see you, too--you know, with my feet, at least. Are you okay?

Of course I'm okay, silly!

[And Katara. Giggles.]

[Okay, what? Silly? Giggling?

...Katara must just be tired. Even if she sure didn't feel tired. But that was an easy enough explanation for her weirdness.]

You sure about that, Sweetness?

Why wouldn't I be? We're together now, so everything is just right.

Uhh...but the Malnosso didn't do anything weird to you, did they?

[Her concern is growing. Toph is very concerned.]

Besides taking all my powers away? [She sighs a little and then... giggles.] Other than that, I don't remember a thing!

Wait, you don't have your bending? [Okay, something is very wrong. Katara should be very upset about that.] Katara! Why didn't you say so?

...Why aren't you freaking out?

[Katara blinks vapidly, her voice light and airy.]

Well, of course I'm upset. But what's the point of worrying about it? Everything will work out okay. I'll get them back and then I'll get us all out of here.

Katara, you're being weird. What do you mean, you'll get us out?

[And now her surprise is bordering on annoyance.]

With my ninja-princess-vampire-werewolf-sorcerer-Amazon-shinigami powers. Once I get them all back, that barrier should be easy to snap!

[She doesn't even understand half of the words that just came out of your mouth.]

[Okay, and now she's just mad. Toph was actually worried about you, Katara. It's not exactly like she draws that out very much. And here you are making lame jokes in her face.]

...Are you making fun of me? Or is this some kind of joke to you? It's not funny, Katara. Stop it.

[Katara is confused. Whatever had she done to make her dearest friend treat her so?]

Of course I'm not making fun of you. Don't you remember? The Malnosso didn't take you too, did they?

No, they didn't, but you didn't have any of those stupid whatever-powers before! You're a waterbender, remember? Wa-ter?

[And then it hits her. This is some kind of experiment. It has to be.]
