Do you think that there's such a thing as a power that is wrong, not because of how it's used, but just because of what it does?

[After staying holed up in her room with the door shut - quite an unusual break of habit for her - Katara decides to head into town. She wants to check out that night club that she'd heard about - she heard there would be music!

From there it's the usual errands, like the grocery store and the Item Shop. Dinner tonight will be Something Spicy, but she hasn't figured out what yet. Maybe it'll help get Sokka out of his funk.]

To be honest? It's really hard to say unless you know what you're dealing with. Like right now, since I have no idea what power you're talking about I feel like I can't answer right. But generally...no. You can not like something and it might still be perfectly okay. People are opinionated creatures, and that's what makes it so interesting.

[Katara wrinkles her nose at him. This would be the part where she says 'You're welcome to try and help her figure out what they are,' but... really, if they end up having a falling out in the next few days that would just be awkward.]

Yue's smart. If there's something she wants to do, she can figure out a way to do it herself. She knows we'll support her. She just had a... really rough adjustment period.

[Darn. And he had suggestions lined up too. She makes a good argument, though.]

[Well by now she's gotten the jist of what's normal with dinner but even now it feels weird to not help with preparation. But... whatever. More to occupy space than anything she goes to get a soda from the fridge]

Katara's secret mission is to introduce Yue to more boys so she's not just. In the house with Sokka and Suki. Of course... she's got a really hard time picturing Shikamaru dating anybody, but at least Yue can see that all guys are not like the ones in the North Pole.]

If you don't enjoy the sort of effects a power may have, you do not need to use it. However, if someone else sees use in that power you don't have the right to say anything about it. Blind yourself to the things you do not find appreciation in.

Well, these people are individuals you respect, yes? Can you continue to respect them even if you think they're doing something wrong, or is it necessary for you to think they're doing something right in order for them to keep your admiration?

You can use traditionally 'evil' powers for good, but most people would still see you as a bad person because of fear.

Of course there is. Just as good men kill to protect themselves and others, so an evil power can be used for good by the right people.

The problem is that the right people often throw such power away.

[Katara does not really like talk of forgiveness. Forgiveness has to be earned before it can be given, and given completely. She doesn't understand why more people don't get that, but she's tired of fighting about it.]

Who we are and what we do are not so easily separated. If someone is consistently doing something wrong, then maybe I was mistaken to give them my respect in the first place.

[She glances down and smiles to herself a private and almost-sad smile.]

They probably would. They're both very nice people.
