[After staying holed up in her room with the door shut - quite an unusual break of habit for her - Katara decides to head into town. She wants to check out that night club that she'd heard about - she heard there would be music!

From there it's the usual errands, like the grocery store and the Item Shop. Dinner tonight will be Something Spicy, but she hasn't figured out what yet. Maybe it'll help get Sokka out of his funk.]

Mind control.

...yeah, that sounds pretty bad. But what about people who would use something like that to protect others? Or what other people are saying about it just being a tool?

What about the people who take away your free will, your ability to be afraid and let them do things to you, because they put it in your head that it's okay when it's not?

[ she's a bit of a hypocrite on this issue. caroline will use her ability to compel people as needed, from her mother to girls at school to people telling her yes when they'd otherwise say no. the vampire whose blood turned her, however, used the same talent to use and abuse her when she was still human and she's still not okay with that -- she'll never be okay with that. one of the suckiest things about being a vampire is remembering all that which he compelled her to forget. ]

That sounds horrible. [Like one of her worst fears.] But that sounds like it's something that the people are doing. Not something about the power itself.

...not that I can think of any good use for a power like that either.

Maybe. I've yet to see anyone do anything good with it.
