[Today, after the typical Saturday late morning house-cleaning and laundry doing, Katara heads into town. She's got grocery shopping to do, true, but she has another more specific destination in mind: The Flower Shop. You guys carry seeds for trees, right?

Thus armed, she will head back home, ~~steal~~ borrow one of Sokka's canoes, and head up to the nearest lake. Once there, she intends to use Faren to plant and strengthen the tree seeds in order to replace the tree she dessicated in her last spar with Shikamaru. She may even give into the urge to jump into the lake and go for a swim.]

[Accidental video:]

[In fact, regardless of whether or not there's company there for her to plant the tree or go swimming, the urge to just jump into the lake is one she is going to give into. The fact that it is an urge, though, prompts her to be less than careful as she strips off her waterskin, belt, and pouch which holds her journal, causing it to jostle opened as it lands on the ground. Fortunately, the fates are kinder to her than they could have been and the video function is not pointing directly at her. Just enough, though, to see her back as she shimmies out of her overtunic before Katara steps out of the camera completely. There will shortly be the sound of a loud SPLASH. And then the video just records the sky and perhaps a loud "EEP." That water is cold. This will probably be a very short swim.

Later, at home and over a cup of tea, she sets up a voice message.]

[Private: to Robin]

Hey, the experiment's over. When do you want to come over for dinner?

[If you hoped she would forget, masked man, your hopes were in vain!

As always, feel free to bump at her in town, on her way out of it, or even at home or the lake!]

[Sheesh, he just said it wasn't worth dragging her out for. It's not that bad.

He can hear the apprehension in her voice though, so he wipes his hands and appears back in view of the journal again, looking pretty relaxed.]

Got a mission. Figured I'd let you know before I go.

Oh. [She processes that quickly and quietly.] That was fast. Are you going with Masaomi?

[He shakes his head.]

Might catch him in the tunnels, but we're doing different things.

Oh. [Less than encouraging.] What are you doing?

Mountain combat's what it said. Nothing I can't handle.

They're sending you out on a combat mission by yourself?

[Freaking. Malnosso. Bastards.]

Just because I don't know anyone from here who's going with me doesn't mean I'll be on my own.

[Though for the way they described the mission, less is probably more.]

I talked to your brother today. He said there were ten guys out there with him on his mission. They'll probably throw some my way too.

[Yes, but we have no idea the caliber of the fighters that they're sending with you... they could be more of a hazard than a help.

It might as well. [She throws that in a bit sullenly, because you know what she means. And then she shifts the topic of conversation, because lamenting about unfairness is useless.] Did they say if there was snow in the mountains?

This time of year I'm expecting it. I've been told to save my questions for when they brief me, though, and that they'll provide me with that I need when I get there.

[Another puff of smoke - supplies going into another scroll.]

[...and she can see you're really taking the Malnosso's promise of provisions to heart.]

Did Ino give you medicine to pack away? And do you have good gloves?

Got gloves and a coat this afternoon, and the medicine will be ready in the morning.

[He doesn't come out and say it, but there's a audible air of 'I got this' to his tone right now.

...he's in a remarkably good mood, all things considered.]

[...nope, she still hates this. In fact, as he was talking he might have heard the sound of pages being flipped as she goes back to check on her... still empty... mission sheet.]

If you cut the middle three fingers of the gloves along the side and sew them up on top, you'll be warmer without loosing too much mobility.
