[Okay, so waking up today was weird. She thought it was Saturday, but by the state of the house and where things were... it was actually Monday. Sokka was back - woke up in his own bed, and all, but when Katara went to check on Toph to see if she remembered what happened...

Her room was bare. There was nothing left. Toph was gone.

After stumbling to the wall and leaning on it a long moment to get herself together - is it going to hurt like this every time? - it was time to tell the household.

That accomplished, one of them had to let the town know... and Katara volunteered. She opened up her journal to find a mission summons from the Malnosso. She stared at it a long moment - now? When her housemates need her most they're calling for her now? She shut the journal. She needed a moment to process.

Eventually, she'll open up the journal again. Her voice is a little strained, but steady.]

I'm sorry I don't know any other way to say this but... Manliness Classes are going to have to be canceled again. Toph's gone home.

And... [hhhng, announcing this to the village is so weird, but...] Sokka's back. [There, that's better. Starting with him gives her someplace to stand on.] But I'll be leaving on a mission tomorrow, so... I'll see you all in a week or so.

[So after making this post mid-morning, Katara sets about doing what she needs to do. Sirry Crags, huh? She knows how to handle high altitudes and fighting in snow. She'll just... pop into the Item Shop to double check for a few things, and then hopefully bump into someone willing to help her carry groceries home. It looks like she's going to need to do a week's worth of cooking today.]

A whole week's? That's a lot! [Chopper trots over, surveying the results.] Oh, do you want any help carrying them back?

[This is instant relief.] If you don't mind, that would be great. I should have gotten Sokka or Zuko to help me, but... Sokka just got back.

[And Zuko was off firebending when she left, so.]

Sure thing! I have a whole hour before I have to go back to the clinic. [Not to mention he could use the simple company, given some recent events.]

[He takes a couple steps back, and suddenly a reindeer about the size of a small horse takes his place. Chopper bends down and hooks a few grocery bags by their handles with his antlers.] I can hold a lot this way, so I'll carry as much as you need me to!

[Blink!]

[And then she laughs, which is... really... not something she thought she'd be doing today.]

That would be great, Chopper! Thank you!

[...blink again. It's been a while, but...]

...is it just me, or are you bigger?

Yeah, my antlers grew a lot longer!

That's great! [She figures antlers must be a big thing for reindeer. They measured maturity for reindeer back home too. But...]

...but I think you're taller too.

Oh, that's right! [Vivi said that, too 8|a] I guess I keep forgetting about that.

How old are you now?

Me? I'm seventeen.

...or nineteen, if you count the time I spent in Luceti last time I was here.

I'm sixteen now. [Curious glance.] Are you counting it?

[He ponders this, his hoof pawing the ground thoughtfully.]

Well, I was returned to my physical age when I went back to my own world, so I'd be seventeen biologically...but I still have two extra years' worth of memories.

No, I think that's everything. Are you sure you don't mind walking back to the house?

Not at all! [Without one of Sanji's lunches, he'd just settled for a quick fruit from the grocery store for his lunch break, and there's certainly worse ways to kill the rest of an hour.] I have plenty of time; my next shift doesn't start for a while!

What shifts are you working now? Are you at the clinic or at the lab?

[Although, sob, if Chopper's at the lab Katara would probably know.]

I usually stick to the clinic, since healing magic can take care of most Battledome injuries. [There's a trained doctor or two there, as well, so no need to worry about someone being present who knows how to set bones.] I don't have exact hours...but most of the time I end up working from early morning to late noon.

[Somewhat hesitantly:]

I've been taking lessons with Trafalgar while you were gone.

Oh, you have? Great! [Katara's hesitation goes sailing right over his head.] What have you learned while I was gone?

[Not the reaction she'd been expecting, but... good.]

He figured that you and Ginko had given me a pretty good background on medicine, so we moved on to more advanced anatomy and physiology and surgery.

[Law may be a rival pirate, but he's a fellow doctor; Chopper has no doubts about his intentions when it comes to medicine. And it's good that Katara is learning, regardless of who her teacher is.]

Already? Wow, that's impressive, Katara!

[She very nearly grins at that.]

Thanks. I've been working hard at it.
