[Okay, so waking up today was weird. She thought it was Saturday, but by the state of the house and where things were... it was actually Monday. Sokka was back - woke up in his own bed, and all, but when Katara went to check on Toph to see if she remembered what happened...
Her room was bare. There was nothing left. Toph was gone.
After stumbling to the wall and leaning on it a long moment to get herself together - is it going to hurt like this every time? - it was time to tell the household.
That accomplished, one of them had to let the town know... and Katara volunteered. She opened up her journal to find a mission summons from the Malnosso. She stared at it a long moment - now? When her housemates need her most they're calling for her now? She shut the journal. She needed a moment to process.
Eventually, she'll open up the journal again. Her voice is a little strained, but steady.]
I'm sorry I don't know any other way to say this but... Manliness Classes are going to have to be canceled again. Toph's gone home.
And... [hhhng, announcing this to the village is so weird, but...] Sokka's back. [There, that's better. Starting with him gives her someplace to stand on.] But I'll be leaving on a mission tomorrow, so... I'll see you all in a week or so.
[So after making this post mid-morning, Katara sets about doing what she needs to do. Sirry Crags, huh? She knows how to handle high altitudes and fighting in snow. She'll just... pop into the Item Shop to double check for a few things, and then hopefully bump into someone willing to help her carry groceries home. It looks like she's going to need to do a week's worth of cooking today.]

lovelustdoki, his own brain is very slow on the uptake. But when Katara flips up into standing at the speed of sound, he follows suit - his own core muscles showing off a bit in that he is able to do this from a a position of laying on his back without even needing to plant his arms on anything (it's canon, trust me)And he...
Who the fuck is this guy? He's seen him around (town, at a party or two maybe) he thinks but he had no idea this dude was here? Living here?]
no subject
Which you are obviously not doing.] Go to sleep.
[Pointing to Masaomi.] You. Out.
1/2
Don't be rude.
[Of course it could be worse. It could be Sokka. And it probably would be if this conversation kept going much longer.]
no subject
He's right, though. I'm glad you came by, but it's late. I need to go to sleep.

Right~ whatever Scarface says.

It's when Masaomi speaks that Zuko's wary tension flares into a smoldering anger. He's gone straight past indignant to dangerous fury in one word flat. His voice is low and level.]
Get. Out.
1/2
She stands there stunned for a moment, almost like she'd been slapped.]
2/3
She steps, not between them, because she's not an idiot, but almost so, so that she's perfectly positioned to block a blow from either one of them towards the other. She's tense now, because this could go up in flames - quite literally - at any second.]
no subject
Give us a minute, all right?
[Maybe it would have been better if she'd let them handle it themselves, but... right now her priority is to stop a fight, say goodbye to Masaomi (because he still deserves that) and then... talk to Zuko.]
1/2
Katara admonishes him. And in doing that, he flashes back to a long, long time ago.
"What about that Zuko person? Are they important?"
You know it's odd. He'd known this scar-faced person was in Luceti. He knew Katara had a (traitorous) comrade named Zuko. He had never really connected the two. He'd also never known he was living here, and despite himself he finds that this is the most uncomfortable thing to him. There's a very tense moment here... in which he decides if he wants to follow Katara's lead, follow Zuko's command, or screw both of those and pick a fight he has no idea if he'd survive or not. Wasn't Zuko one of those flame-people?]
no subject
That pillow, that lamp...]
no subject
He wouldn't pick a fight when she was leaving on a mission the next morning. Without a word to Masaomi -- but have a glare -- he turns on his heel and stalks into the kitchen.
... He'd like a glass of water.]
no subject
...but there is a slight problem. Masaomi's hoodie is in the kitchen.
Normally, she'd lay a hand on Masaomi's arm right about now, a brief, encouraging, I'm here, because she sees how tense and upset he is, but she's still a little angry with him for that. That was such an obvious low blow, and it had racketed the level of threat and offense up so high...
But he didn't know it...
...but he knew enough.]
I'll go get your hoodie.
[She starts to turn to follow Zuko into the kitchen, a few steps behind him and without having touched Masaomi.]
no subject
The fact she didn't touch him doesn't hit him until she leaves. The fact she didn't show support. The fact she clearly disapproved of his action and he only did that out of some stupid juvenile defensive habit.
God, I'm such a putz ]
no subject
But he's not snarling and he's not making a scene and, most importantly, he's not marching back in there and throwing out that jerk.]
no subject
[-before turning to head back to Masaomi. She'll talk to Zuko later, right now she needs to get Masaomi out as quickly as possible. Returning to Masaomi, she offers him his sweatshirt.]
Here you go.
[She's not going to say anything to him about it. Not yet. She'll wait to see what he says first.]
no subject
[Wordlessly, he's going to take it and start to put it on. Fine, he'll do it like that. he's... almost pouting. It's not a real one because that would be silly, but]
no subject
So fine. She'll say it. But she keeps her voice low.]
You should apologize.
no subject
That'd be aaaaan idea.
no subject
Well. Good.
And he hesitates here, her gaze flickering between him and Zuko in the kitchen, before it returns to Masaomi, questioning. Is he going to do it now? Should she get Zuko's attention or get out of the way?]
no subject
[Because he's not sure Zuko's going to hear that. He's also not positive that eh can do it right now, but he will for her]
1/2
She's been wrong about so many people, so many times...
She's just glad that he's willing to own up to it.]
no subject
She looks back at Masaomi.]
No, probably not.
[And then she does touch his arm, briefly, and she inclines her head towards the door and smiles a little.] Come on, I'll see you out.
