[Sneeze and you break it filter to CR at around 4 am this morning.]

[So then Katara wakes up much, much later and will be just puttering around the house for a while for those who are inclined to catch her in serious conversation. She sends notes to Trafalgar and to Gelda to let them know that although she's back she feels like she needs to take a few days off... she's still very tired, and as of yet not feeling like being around people.

All that changes, however, on Wednesday. She needs to get out of the house, she needs to do something life-affirming and fun... and isn't it fortunate that she's been working on building several ~~insane~~ ~~monstrous~~ intense snow tracks for people to go sledding on? She decides to go check on them and to bring her journal with them.

Finding that their structural integrity hasn't been too damaged without constant maintenance and that the cold weather still holds... she decides that today is the day to show them off.]

Hey, everyone - I've been working on something the past few weeks and if you like sledding then... [She trails off and flips the journal over so that the journal feed will reveal three sledding tracks. She's made good use of all the snow in the past month or so, the clearing is very nearly bare of it - instead, there is the very large one, made completely of tunnels and requiring snow-cut stairs to ascend and once dared will necessitate a few on-the-walls themselves turns, there is the slightly less large one that seems to be composed mostly of sheer drops, and there is the normal-sized one that is essentially one long spiral down to ground level.] then grab your sleds. Don't worry, I've had a few people test them and they've held up just fine! It's south of the barracks, by the river.

[OOC: If anyone wants to come sledding, please do! Threadjacks of all sorts are welcome!

Also, if I could get those who attend the school, work in the clinics, or attend combat medicine lessons to give this a quick glance and offer input, that would be awesome! \o/!]

All right. [That doesn't even surprise him. 8| He grins and half-salutes at the journal before going.] I'll see you around, then.

[At least in a few hours he'll have an idea of where to look, when that sledding announcement goes up. Luckily he was headed South anyways.]

[Well, she's not coming back from where she's prepared those sledding tracks until dark, so if it's any time after the announcement and before then, that's where he'll find find her.

And as it happens, she's not sledding at the moment. She's sitting under a tree, not too far off, just... watching.]

[That weariness seems to have faded, at least, and she looks a little happier. Shikamaru will approach quietly from the side of the tree, making his presence a little more apparent when he's close so he doesn't startle. He turns his attention to the sled courses, leaning against the tree.]

So how long did it take to make those?

[She turns at hearing his approach and smiles.]

A couple of weeks. It's how I'd been practicing before the drafts.

Huh. Looks cool. I'm surprised no one's taken advantage of 'em before this without an invitation.

Some people might have, but not many people come down here in the winter. [She hoists herself up.] Ready to give them a try?

I'll pass, but thanks. Not big on snow.

[WHICH YOU KNOW. He has only complained about a billion times.]

It's not going to get any more warm just standing here.

Come on, Shikamaru, I worked hard on these. Aren't you going to try just one?

I'll let you pick? [Secretly, she hopes he'll go for the tunnel. It's the biggest one, but also the one that she thinks he'd enjoy the most. And it's the one she put the most work into.]

What's the big one like?

[He's actually learning towards the spiral-like course - it reminds him of the roller coasters that were at that amusement park, which he surprisingly enjoyed. But he can't quite see the actual course for the other one. Tunnels, and all.]

It's fun! It's the most like penguin sledding at home because I designed it so you have to take some of the curves on the tunnel walls.

[And she is SO PROUD that she pulled that off, it fairly nearly puffs her up with it.]

[Haha, he can see it. Well, now he'd feel like an ass if he decided to go with the other one he likes anyways - not that this is a bad trade from the description.]

Couldn't have made it with less stairs, huh. [Obligatory whining that is probably ineffective, because he's smirking. And also walking towards it.]

[...he's going to go on one? Score! She rushes after him, picking up a sled for him as she goes.]

It wouldn't have been as much fun if it wasn't as high.

I guess you could say that, yeah.

[Heading up the steps now.]

[Okay, at the top here. Looks a lot cooler from this point of view, he'll admit.]

Okay, if you've never been sledding before you're going to want to take this lying down. [She steadies the sled for him.] Do you want to go head or feet first?

Feet, probably. [More control that way. 8|a]

All right. [She crouches beside it and holds on to the sled.] Lay down and make sure you keep most of your fingers inside the sled.

Hands and feet inside the ride at all times, huh.

[Roger, roger. He climbs in, but doesn't lie down just yet.] Anything else?

You can direct it a little with your feet, by shifting your weight, but other than that - it's easy. [A quick grin.] You won't have to do any work.

I like the sound of that.

So you following after, or what?

[She only brought up one sled, he knows. Probably safer to go one at a time. But with her bending, she has other ways to head down.]
