[Katara has now had some time to adjust to this strange new place. She's stalked the people she supposedly knows. She's read back in the book. She's gone so far as to attempt the new technology that would take her to the ocean and back and found how truly trapped they were.

Now that everything was a little less raw, the crushing certainty that she was trapped here with people who claimed to know her, people who claimed to be her family, demanded a response.

She couldn't just run away. It was a failing of hers. The only reason she'd run was if it was to form a better plan of attack. But how could you attack when the threat was... being known? Or... being known enough. There were questions and she wanted answers.

So while Katara wasn't overtly looking for anyone who claimed to know her, she was willing to let herself be found, and wandered into places where that would be quite easy.]

And that was the essence of it right there.

"I did." He paused before continuing. "I didn't want to be the Avatar then. I was afraid of losing everything I was, and not being a kid or- or like a person anymore. But those are just excuses. Nothing I've done since I woke up and stopped running changes the fact that... I messed up, I couldn't stop the war from happening, a-and the world suffered."

She swallowed hard, "I don't understand. How were you even alive when the war started?"

"I was born before the war started," he made eye contact again to increase the chance of being believed. "But when I ran away from my people... from my responsibility... I got caught in a storm. And a special Avatar power activated that protected me by... by freezing me.

So I got frozen in an iceberg, for a whole hundred years. It was like I was asleep. Until... until someone woke me up." It felt weird to try explaining that towards the same face that had been his first sight upon awakening.
