[Action, Chickening Out Written, and Voice] .015

[What with Zuko's unexpected and somewhat... well, dubious bout of hopefully-it-will-be-win and please don't burn their house again, Katara has an unexpected bout of free time. This is both a good thing, and a bad thing, since with the craziness of her first few months dying down, Katara has started to feel homesickness pressing down on her. Couple that with Sokka's keeping secrets, his friendship with Ty Lee, and learning chi blocking, the extra time to think is not... exactly... happy.

So here she is, at the bridge by her house, standing at the arch and staring out over the water.]

Ginko, have you ever-

[No. It wasn't fair to bring anyone into this. She'd figure it out the same way she always did.]

[Voice: Filtered away from Zuko, 70%]

So... has anyone else noticed anything strange going on tonight? There isn't a new experiment going on, is there?

[And pretty much immediately after this comment Katara is going to find a way to erase this voice post if it kills her. She didn't mean to upset anyone! It was just - so weird.]


[...And sometime after dinner, she'll be returning to her practicing routine outside of the house, in case she's due for a talking to you know who you are.]

[If that's San's purpose, she might notice that Katara has started wearing a knife in her belt. But for a few more minutes now, Katara will still be practicing in ignorance.]

[she's not really sure what prompts her to this next thing. Maybe to see how she'll fare against the water. She springs from her hiding place at Katara, knife drawn but not aimed even to strike, much less to kill]

[It's not a good thing to startle a master waterbender. Katara whirls at the sound and sends off a water jet at San - the force is just as powerful as what she used to knock San back when she was threatening her brother.]

San! What are you doing? [Katara calls up more water, but doesn't attack again.]



[OOC: Feel free to PM me or something if anything in the fight gets weird for you - although her first reaction doesn't leave it to be much of one, I'm afraid. =/ If that's not good for you, let me know!]

[knocked backwards mid-jump, she manages a rough but balanced landing on all fours. When Katara doesn't attack again, San doesn't either, putting the knife away instead]

[When San puts her knife away, Katara relaxes her stance. And is confused.]

[She blinks.] No, I didn't. [...and she probably should have, huh.] I was concentrating.

[Katara nods.] As hard as stone - [And she shifts some of the water into a pointed ice spike for a moment before it fades back to water] - or as sharp as ice.

But you know that, if you've been watching. [Pause.] Why have you been watching, San?

[Katara blinks. And misunderstands.]

I don't think.. that people from outside of my world can learn bending. It doesn't seem to work like that.

Oh. [Blink. Why would she-- And then Katara smirks a little.] Well, that takes more than watching.

[And she slides into a ready stance.] Just avoid the kill spots, and I will too.

... [She doesn't really want a fight. But Katara seems to be insisting. Her knife is in her hands again and she jumps at her]

[And this time Katara doesn't attack at all - she just forms a water shield. If San charges it, it will be hard as stone. There was hesitance there that she hadn't expected - maybe San wasn't familiar with sparing? She probably should have asked first, huh.

...this is just not turning out to be one of Katara's better days.]
