[The past few days have been good for Katara. The happy from mending her rift with Sanji hasn't faded, rather it has turned into a sort of muted contentment and being outside and with good company was good for the soul.

Of course, not everyone was having such a good time... but she couldn't really blame Caesar for that, considering the way he'd shown up. Everyone else seemed to be... mostly getting along. And it was so nice to be doing that which felt a little bit more familiar.

Not to mention the fact that she's been able to spend so much time in and around the water. Just now, she was taking a swim after dinner. It was so good to be so close to so much water again - just feel it on her senses, tugging at her awareness. It was almost like home, but in a way that made her happy instead of sad - because she refused to be sad as long as she had a choice about it.

Getting up, she wrings the water out of her hair and bends the rest off before making her way towards her journal.

[She swims over to the edge and rests her elbows on the shallow edge there. The lake is deep enough at this point where in functions as a sort of pool, and she doesn't feel any need to get out of the water.]

It's good to see you! Jet and I were concerned about you. Are you all right?

[...Concerned? Oh, that's right. He's still not entirely sure what happened, but Jet explained that he was gone for a while. Looks like he told Katara about it.

One corner of his mouth twitches up in appreciation for her consideration, and then Longshot nods - he did have some weird injuries before, but they've all healed now.]

A couple of people were in... what they remembered to be like a grey space. Was that what happened to you too?

[There's a bit of hesitation, and he seems a little confused. To be honest? He can't remember much at all. Nothing but a hazy dream...

It was kind of gray though. He thinks he remembers that. After another moment he nods.]

Oh. [...this place really sucks.] Well. I'm glad you're all right.

[There's a very small grin - thanks. He is too.]

[He reaches a hand down to splash at the water, looking amused. Swimming, huh?]

Yeah - [She glances at his fishing gear.] Sokka's in a canoe a bit further in - I think I'm driving all the fish towards him. [The poor talking fish. D:]

But the water's not too cold once you get used to it.

[Alas, the talking fish have it coming. Despite their pleas not to be eaten, he's met more than one that insisted they would probably taste delicious.]

[He looks in the direction Katara indicated. Guess that means he'll have to be patient if he wants to get his own meal. At the comment about the water though, he wrinkles his nose. Must be nice in warm weather like this, but then you're stuck being wet.]

If you want to take another boat out over to him, I'm sure he won't mind.

[She nods in the direction of the beached canoes.] Or you could always come swimming with me, and have dinner with us!

[Although... Zuko is here. And Roku. Hmm.]

[Longshot scratches at his head, considering the canoes. He has nooo idea how to use one of those.]

[He glances back at Katara when she mentions the swimming and nods - that doesn't sound like a bad idea. If they catch enough fish, he could probably bring something back for Jet too.]

[ Oh. And he will have to decline once he'd told about that detail. 8| ]

[...her ability to read read you does not extend that far, Longshot. So she will just glance around, and then ask:] Is Jet here with you too?

[He shakes his head - nope. They're both out hunting today, and Jet went to the other side of the forest while Longshot covered this end. Not that you'll know he's that far away either.]

[Also, he's assuming her reasons for asking have more to do with her being uncomfortable around Jet because of the way he hits on her. Understandable. Since they're out in the forest, he's not suspicious of any firebenders being around just yet.]

[And you can interpret that relief however you'd like, but it's kind of obvious the way that she relaxes at that news - she's not real sure how Jet would react to Zuko yet.]

Okay. Sorry about messing up your fishing spot.

[He waves a hand, then goes to take off his boots - it's not a problem.]

[She doesn't exactly back away from the edge, but she does somehow manage to give the impression that she's now giving Longshot space.]

Coming in?

[Raised eyebrow and a nod. Yeah - you invited him, didn't you?]

[She sure did! But she didn't know you were going to take her up on it. Well - she doesn't mind.]

It's cold at first. You'll be better off jumping in.

[Once he has his boots off and his pant legs rolled up, he'll do just that. On second thought, he removes the cape too, tucking his boots and his weapons in a bush with the cloth over it. He has a dagger he got from Sokka's batcave under his clothes. Good enough for fishing, and a decent substitue for self-defense.]

[The hat comes with him though Because it's awesome.]

[Okay, jumping in now!]

[...he goes swimming with his hat.]

[Woah, hello, splash! Katara doesn't mind you one bit - she just lets it hit. Time to duck under the water's surface herself - it wouldn't do to start to get dry and let the water get cold on her again.]

[Ack - gonna take a minute for him to get used to it though. He resurfaces for a moment and continues to swim around, doing just that.]

[Katara is lazily treading water - the cold might seem brisk at first, but she grew up swimming in artic waters. This is nothing.]

See? It's not too bad.

[Says you. He can get used to it though. It's just been a while since he's actually gone for a swim. Longshot dives back under the water to speed the process up.]

[That look was easy to interpret.] Pfff - baby.

[She waits somewhat patiently for him to resurface, then:] Race you to the other side?
