[The past few days have been good for Katara. The happy from mending her rift with Sanji hasn't faded, rather it has turned into a sort of muted contentment and being outside and with good company was good for the soul.
Of course, not everyone was having such a good time... but she couldn't really blame Caesar for that, considering the way he'd shown up. Everyone else seemed to be... mostly getting along. And it was so nice to be doing that which felt a little bit more familiar.
Not to mention the fact that she's been able to spend so much time in and around the water. Just now, she was taking a swim after dinner. It was so good to be so close to so much water again - just feel it on her senses, tugging at her awareness. It was almost like home, but in a way that made her happy instead of sad - because she refused to be sad as long as she had a choice about it.
Getting up, she wrings the water out of her hair and bends the rest off before making her way towards her journal.
If you are out there camping, feel free to bump into her at the lake, or on her way back to the campsite!]

I hope everyone's doing all right back at the village! It's beautiful out here.

We're all fine on this end, Katara-chan!
Where are you guys staying at?
[Voice]
I'm glad to hear that!
We are over by the far lake. It's really pretty out here.

[Voice]
Whelp, Sanji knows he doesn't want to deal with Sokka right now]
Maaah, I wouldn't want to intrude. Isn't this supposed to be a "No Adults" trip?
[Voice]
I didn't mean right now! We have all three canoes here anyway, and some people still had to hike. But when we get back, you should take one out and go to the lake! Have you ever ridden in a canoe before, or just the big ships?
[Voice]
Not a canoe, no, but I've been on plenty of smaller boats.
[a pause] Didn't your brother make them?
[Voice]
That's right! I think he had some help with some of them though - not all of the workmanship looks like his. [And some of it is decidedly better than others - like say the parts that Usopp did as opposed to the parts done by Jet.] It's different to have them all made out of wood, but they still handle pretty much the same.
[Voice]
Yeah, it's damn impressive anyway. [He means it - making boats of any kind is a skill lost on him.] And what do you usually make them out of, if not wood?
[Voice]
...which means everyone she's talking to probably can too. Oh well.]
Sokka is good at building things - he always used to like to watch. It came in handy, after all the men left.
Whale skin and bone. The skin can be stretched out and dried to be nearly as tough as wood. It can stand up to nearly anything, but it's still not as good for rougher waters, so we import wood for that.
[Voice]
And color Sanji impressed here]
Whale skin? [The look in his eye probably says he just recited at least twelve recipes that involve whale meat.] Well, it makes sense you'd use as much of the animal as possible.
[Voice]
And she nods.]
That's one of the most important things that you learn back home - never to let anything go to waste. There's always a use for something. We used tiger-seal skin to make our tents and furs to make our clothes...
And it's about respect too - we hunt them down and take their life. It's only right that we put it to good use, so that their death has meaning.
[Voice]
Such wisdom you speak~! Katara-chan would fit perfectly in my world~!
[Voice]
It's not my wisdom or anything like that - it's just the way life is.
