Hey, Winry - do you still want to go get pizza today? I can make it for lunch, but... I can't hang out the whole day.

[She will also be making a point to visit her friends today, specifically the Straw Hat House. She wants to check in on Sanji, now that she knows what's happened to him, say goodbye to Nami... and she has a feeling Ginko will be there as well. If not, she'll try to contact him over the journal.

She also needs to stop in the item's shop. Being given a gift from the water of the river of light... Katara wants to find something similar to the container she used for the spirit oasis water so that if they get out there and she needs it, she'll have it.

The chances are good that she is also going to make a token effort to track down Buffy. She's heard enough about the last fight that she knows what happened there, and she wants to ask a few questions before heading out there - and she wants to hear about how this same mysterious Third Party General had died. It was the mystery that was bothering her - not knowing what they were really going up against or why they were really doing this. If she could talk to someone who'd fought them before, then maybe, maybe... the feeling of being used wouldn't be as strong and she'd be able to focus on what was really important.

She thinks about going over Caesar's house as well, but decides that a journal message will be good enough. He's probably busy preparing - or sleeping. And she had a feeling he wouldn't be able to do as much of that as he'd like, once they got out there.]

Hey, Caesar. Ready for this?

[After her various conversations, she goes back home to make dinner and she, Sokka, and Toph have a surprisingly normal meal before slipping out a little earlier than normal for her accustomed practice time. She's not sure why they're going out to fight or why the 'why' bothers her so much - and she's a little scared, strung tense with nervous energy. The forms are soothing and precise and tonight there is just that extra edge, just that smallest bit of ruthless passion that gives away just how strongly the drums of her fathers beat within her - this is about war. And war is something Katara knows very well.

But when the sun starts to set she takes a break and takes a seat, watching it go down not thinking about very much at all. It's beautiful.]

[The river is right there, and it is tempting, oh-sooo-tempting, to just start to run on it. That wouldn't be cheating, right?]

[He's getting a bit closer now. Almost enough to try and grab her, but... miss. And lose a bit of ground in the effort. Oi.]

[Gah! Dodging to the right now. Yes, away from the river. Sob. And she is not going to dignify that with a response. They're going to war tomorrow. That's tomorrow. Tonight's tonight.]

[Okay, okay. Here he goes. He's grabbing for an arm now. That should put a stop to these silly, childish shenanigans.]

[Arm! Grabbed! Gah! She turns around and runs across from him, reaching out to shove him back as she completes the L to run towards him. Forward momentum, freeing arm from the grip of the evil older brother? Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

Sadly, she is now headed in the wrong direction. And still close enough to catch or tackle, if he reacts very quickly.]

[You brought this on yourself, Katara. He quickly recovers and is back to running, narrowing that gap quickly... and this time he's just going to tackle her. Because if this was tag, he would've already won. She cheated by squirming away. So this is totally fair.]

OOPH! [Fortunately, Katara knows how to take a fall, and rolls with it. Sadly, she is now pinned.]

Get off me, you big cat-walrus!

[But she is also trying NOT to laugh. Victory? Yes, she thinks so.]

[Sokka rolls off, but stays crouched just in case she decides to be tricky again.]

Hey, you were asking for it. Do you have any idea how many people probably saw that? [He shakes his head.] Oi.

[She gets up, brushes herself off, and then gestures to the empty twilight.]

What people?

[He looks around and... realizes they sort of ran past all the houses, didn't they? Is that a hoot hoot he hears?]

That... bird thing over there. [Cat owl? What were they called in Luceti? Just... owl, right? And yes, this is a lame point.] We woke it up.

Owls wake up in the night time, Sokka. [It's said flatly, but she can't stop herself from smiling just a little. For a minute - they weren't thinking about it. She absently rubs her side. It would be sore in the morning if she didn't heal it tonight.

A tired sigh.]

All right. You caught me. Let's head back.

[If he doesn't acknowledge her point, it doesn't make her right. But he gets to his feet and offers her a hand up.]

Finally. Next time you do that, I'll just go in the house and lock the doors.

And then I'll get to stay up late and break in later! Win, win.

[He had a comment about how she'd have to replace the doorknob herself, but it dies in his throat before he can say it. Self repairing houses. Bah.]

Breaking and entering? You've been around pirates too long. [Walking on home now.]

It's not breaking in if it's my own house! Then it's just... creative entering.

[She's... kinda wishing she hadn't run so far now. Her steps are lagging just a touch.]

Which leaves us with a broken door for the night.

[When he realizes he's actually putting some distance between them, he stops and looks back at her.]

There are other ways of breaking in that don't involve breaking down the door! And I'd like to see you try! [Huff! Picking up the pace in a burst of indignation.]

[Once she walks past him, he'll start walking again. Whatever.]

Leaving giant holes in the wall is more of a Toph thing. Although it'd be better if it was a "no one that lives with us" thing.

[Ugh, feet like lead. Remind her the next time she does a strenuous healing not to do a full practice session and then engage in a game of tag afterwords. Then again, maybe not, because she'd never admit to it.]

You don't need to make a giant hole in someplace to break in.

[And why is she talking with him about this? Best change the subject before he feels the need to ask about why she sounds like she's talking from experience. >>] You've gotten faster.

[Given his sister's past misdeeds of thievery, breaking and entering wouldn't surprise him. Mostly just give him material to use against her in the future. But he is successfully thrown off the scent... for now.]

I guess I have. But, you know, Derek makes me run all the time. With weights! At five in the morning! Well, not that part anymore. But still!

[Don't forget extreme corporate espionage, terrorist activity, and sneaking in to heal a house full of sick people! All in one poor, unsuspecting fishing village!]

Weights, huh? That's a good idea. When we get back, I'll have to ask him if he can pick out a set for me.

[...ugh, issues? Again? Katara barely keeps herself from groaning.]

Whatever. I just thought he'd be able to pick out the right amount of weight so that it wouldn't tire me out too much while I'd be able to keep up with my other routines. If you think you can do that just as well, that's fine. I'd probably want to wear them while I was practicing with my bo too. You haven't seen me with that since Nami started teaching me, have you?

[Because she has gotten pretty darn proficient, even if the instruction itself hasn't exactly been regular, the practice sure has. She's not crowding your style, man, she's got her own. Hint, hint.]

[It's not issues! Mostly it's the whole idea of training beside his sister. It's embarrassing, okay. They go on manly jogs and talk about manly things like... belching. How could they do that if Katara was there too? They couldn't!]

Oh. Well, yeah, he could probably do that. [And he shakes his head.] Nope. Are you going to bring it? [He doubts it, but this the Malnosso they're dealing with. It doesn't hurt to be prepared for anything. Like, for instance, turning the bending off.]
