[Today - hadn't been so bad. Twenty of them, maybe? It sure seemed like there were a lot less out here than they'd been led to expect, and that was only a good thing because she was tired. The weight of doing this every day was getting to her. Blood had dried in clumps in her hair, and she'd been too tired to bend it out. Now as she stood in the shower, the water collecting at her feet was pink.

It isn't supposed to be pink.

Her stomach heaves and Katara shuts her eyes and stands under the water until even the Malnosso's hotel runs out of hot water, and long after it turns cold.

The thought of going to sleep leaves her restless, and after staring at herself in the mirror too long, she goes to knock on some doors. She doesn't plan on staying long, but just - seeing - that Toph and Sokka are still all right will do her good. She hesitates, and then heads towards Caesar's door as well. When she returns, she's still awake, and so instead of a quick line that she won't respond to anyway, she makes a voice post tonight.]

Hey everyone! How are things going there?

[Hesitation.]

Make sure you get some rest, tonight. Tomorrow is another battle.

I know. I'll head back to my room and try to get some sleep in a little bit. I don't know why I'm not sleepy - I am tired.

[Nightmares might have something to do with it, then again, Katara is not one for remembering her dreams. Just the faces of all the people she's killed this week - those, she remembers.]

Considering our situation, it's understandable that it would be a little difficult to rest properly. Just try to find some ways to wind down, even if it's just resting your body, or having a soothing drink.

It probably wouldn't hurt to steam my room and do a little yoga...

[She pauses, and then her gaze snaps back up to Raine's.] And are you doing all right, Professor? I don't even know what group you've been with...

That sounds like a good idea.

Hm? Yes, I'm all right. [Aside from the occasional worry about their strategists, but that's nothing she can really do anything about.] I've been with Group D, mostly.

You guys are more in the middle, right?

That's right. It's in the same area as the base.

Oh. [She nods, glancing back at Caesar's door.] Good. I still can't believe that he wouldn't let anyone stay with them.

He was very adamant about that. I did what I could, but they insist they'll be all right.

[She sighs a sigh of the frustrated.] Well, they have been so far. He'll be beyond annoying if it turns out fine. I still hope he's right, though.

As long as we don't bring it up, he probably won't either. [She'll have to be very careful about that, living with him and all.] Otherwise an apology for doubting him might be involved.

[She shrugs.] I'm not going to apologize for questioning him when I thought he was wrong. It's not like I went around his back to try to talk someone into standing guard with them. [Not that she was totally thinking that >>]

And at least he agreed to get in touch with one of the teams nearby if they came under attack, so...

I implied that I would do that if it came to it, but I don't think either of them would have forgiven me.

All we can do is hope for the best, and continue to focus on our own tasks.

I guess that's true. So I should probably let you get some rest.
