[For no very specific reason at all, Katara is happy this late afternoon. The air is getting colder, and the very fact that it's nipping at her face is enough to make her smile. Add to that the glorious storm of yesterday, that it is still drizzling...

It's started drizzling as she runs her errands in town, and she puts a hand up to bend an 'umbrella' above her head as she walks along. She forgets herself, though, as she comes to some large puddles in the road, and dropping her hand, stares at them for half a beat.

Well, she's already wet.

So she jumps in. Not bending at all, simply splashing about in the puddles along her way.

Feel free to catch her in this rare display of immaturity and glee - or even join her! Hopefully she won't catch a cold.

Much later, as she prepares dinner for her house, she makes a voice post.]

Right. That's a period in Earth time. [Thank you, worlds history.] I'm not from an Earth. What country are you from?

I'm from the Jyuban District, in Tokyo, Japan.

Oh, another Japan! That makes three people I've met from there. What's it like? Has there been no war there for a long time too?

Three? Who were the others?

[The war question is complicated, but Katara can always persist.]

[Katara is temporarily distracted by Ami's question.] Ginko and Haruki. But they were from different Japans, and different times.

[Not the ones Ami knows, then. Not from home, and not here.]

I don't know them.

Really? Haruki is the leader of the SOS Brigade. I think he's from a time with more technology than Ginko is.

I see. I wonder what year it would be.

[Katara shrugs.] I've never asked. But what about you? What's it like in your world?

It's 2003, I guess. They say time won't change from us being here.

No, it won't. [She takes another sip of her tea.] So if you're the only one in your world with powers like yours... is there a reason why you have them? Or were you just... born with them?

We were born with these powers to protect Earth.

Protect Earth from what?

[Ouch. Ami is fully aware of the rather painful irony of the words she's about to say.]

Their goal was to rule Earth.

[She takes a sip of her tea, frowning a little.] I wonder why everyone always wants to do that. Life is so much better when there's a balance - one ruler over the whole Earth would just be... wrong.
