[Should you be passing by the bridge between the clinic and the Item Shop on this fine, finally-a-break-from-the-heat afternoon, you will notice that there has been a certain change in the landscape. A large wall, seemingly made out of one solid chunk of earth has appeared by the riverbank and painted white. At varying points in the day there may also be some spheres, pyramids, inverted pyramids appearing beside the wall... and that white wall is on its way to becoming multicolored.

There by the wall is a large sheet and on it rest pretty much every container of water-soluble paint found in the Item Shop, mainly strong primary colors. There are balloons and small buckets and bowls, and just about everything you could want in order to throw paint at a white wall.

Random passerby, what do you do? Continue on your way and hope not to get splashed with mud, water, or paint? Stop to wonder at this strange work of 'art?' Or if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, there does seem to be more than enough paint...]

[So he was a jerk who thought she was incompetent and had a horrible sense of timing. It didn't look like he was going home any time soon. So either she avoids him forever or - she finds a way to live with him.]

[And she waits until she gets his attention before flicking the remnants of blue in her pot in his direction. The poor pink hoodie.]

[It's certainly a surprise, but he has no reason to ignore her. He stops, turning around again, and shrugging his shoulders a bit.]

Heh. Me, painting? Not so sure about that. I might ruin it.

Whaaaaaaa- Katara!!

[He looks down at himself, but then he laughs. Pink on blue?! He looks like a maternity ward! He flicks whatever paint will flick off his hands at her, and then scrambles to get more ammo]

You'd be surprised! [Despite what he says, he'll walk back over to get a better look at the wall.] Never been very creative, you see.

[Sadly, all Katara has left is the paint on the wall - and she's not turning this into a bending match. So she laughs and races towards the sheet with the paint on it!

Who will win?!]

But I know how you feel about bright colors.

Maybe you should look at it as an opportunity. [Katara bends down, dips a hand in some green paint, and starts flecking it at her design.] They already have us at half-power here. You never know if they could take it away completely, permanently. Now might be a great chance to train and exercise skills that you have which you don't normally have to use.

[That's why she picked up weapons-fighting, after all.]

[Her tone implies that she thinks this must be an exaggeration, though given what she's seeing and the kinds of people she's met in Luceti, she wouldn't be surprised if this isn't much of an exaggeration if it is.]

They're to be admired, not fooled around with. [At least no one else could tease him for his literally childish behavior then. He looks down at the paints, then back at Katara and gestures for her to go ahead.] After you.

You may be right. [Except she actually has been sort of doing that, when she's not moping.

Not that Temari ever mopes.]

Makes me wonder, though. [She swirls the paint around, mixing the red and the blue until she manages a vibrant purple.] What's the endgame, tinkering with people's abilities?

[Being an attentive person at heart, he catches that little detail and blinks again.] It's practically an extension of you, the way it's moving.

[He pauses to take a look as it hits the stream, before turning back to their handiwork.] That probably explains how you handled all this paint, too. [And speaking of which, shouldn't they still be splashing this wall and completing that messy rainbow?]

Eeep! [And she dodges the vast majority of that as she runs, though some of it manages to catch her left shoulder. And she's bending and scooping up some abandoned blue paint as she goes - better watch out.]

[Katara frowns.] I'm not even sure they know. None of it seems to make any sense.

[She thinks of Chouji's chakra system; Sokka being given Buffy's abilities...]

Sometimes I think they do things just to see if they can.

[Masaomi starts to run too - he's quick, agile - but unlike her he can't bend, so he keeps needing to return to the table proper to get some things to throw- like this yellow paint. He scoops it up to toss and then- well the wall might not be totally dry, let's head there.

That's an answer I'm willing to take. [Except not really -- there has to be some plausible endgame -- but Temari is unwilling to get into it.]

[She scoops up some of the purple paint she's mixed and smears it into a bright yellow streak.]

You should do this more often. [Oh the mess she could make with her fan...]
