[After a good cry, some good advice, and throwing down with the whole of Luceti against Aku the other day, Katara is feeling much more like herself. And she is on a mission. She can be found mid-afternoon heading towards whatever store in Luceti sells paint.

Fire Nation Red in her living room? Not anymore!]

Let's see... I guess I could go blue with green accents... or maybe something even more neutral? Maybe find a cream... No, no orange, it's too close to red...

[Katara has never had a chance to play with paints and colors before! She's a little lost with all the options. She just knows that she wants to make their shared space an open, welcoming one, one that represents all of them ~~and even the one that they're missing~~ and one which won't remind her of that stupid experiment's 'misplaced decimal.' But she has come far enough that she doesn't want it to just chase out Zuko either, although she is perfectly happy never seeing him again. Clearly, the girl is expecting too much out of paint. Someone help?]

[You get a smile!] Oh hey, Yako. I'm trying to decide on a paint color. I'm repainting the living room.

Hm. Well, red's out... what do the other people living with you like? A neutral color might be best, because it's, well, neutral.

Well, Toph's blind, so she won't really care one way or the other. Sokka... painted his last house purple which... hmm... maybe if it was lighter... but I think that pretty much means his opinion doesn't count. And Zuko... [She'll tense a little when she says his name.] has two rooms which are red already. No more red.

And... you want blue? I would think maybe a pale blue, but it's your living room.

I was thinking maybe a pale blue... But it seems like it wouldn't be fair to identify the common room with any particular nation.

[And there's a slight twitch and a mumbled] I can not believe I painted it red.

Red because of the experiment, I'm guessing.

Well, that would make sense. What are the nations' colors?

[That wince which was supposed to be a smile should answer Yako's guess.]

Blue is for the Watertribes. Green is for the Earth Kingdom. [Her voice will get a little strained here.] Red is for the Fire Nation.

...I'm not sure what colors the Air Nomads would say were theirs. Aang always wore a muted sort of yellow and and orange.

Are you from the Watertribes?

Hm, the next thing I was going to say was pale yellow, but if you don't want to cater to one nation... a light cream might be best.

[Katara nods absently in response to her question.] I'm from the Southern Watertribe.

...you know, the Earth Kingdom did wear yellows too. And fire can be yellow as well as red...

Well, then it looks like you've almost got them all covered. Is there a nice shade of yellow that isn't the same that those two use?

Hmm, I don't know. I guess as long as it isn't exactly one or the other, it should be fine... what do you think of this 'Goldenrod?'

Hm... I think it's a little... too dark, for my tastes. But if you like it, then go for it!

Hmm? Then which do you like?

Well, yellow's not really my favorite in general, so.... If it were up to me, I think I'd go more with this, um, Flax. But it's not up to me, and it's about what you want. It's your living room.

...it's going to take a lot of coats to get over all the red, though.

Maybe in carrying all the paint back... Bending the paint onto the walls shouldn't take too long.

Oh, really! [Katara wasn't actually expecting Yako to help -- she was just thinking out loud. Now she's actually delighted.] That's so nice of you! I really appreciate it.

[And she nods] Yeah. I'm a waterbender.

It's not a problem!

So you can do things with water? That must be fun.

[So Katara will hand Yako a gallon of paint.]

Mmm, it can be. [She shoots Yako a mischievous glance.] It makes for good canon balls.

Cannonballs, huh? I'd like to see that sometime.

I hope we're not still here in the spring... but if we are, I'll be happy to show you! [And with a grin Katara takes her own paint and starts walking out of the store towards their house.]

So what is it like in your world, Yako? I've been talking all about mine but I haven't had a chance to ask.
