[After a good cry, some good advice, and throwing down with the whole of Luceti against Aku the other day, Katara is feeling much more like herself. And she is on a mission. She can be found mid-afternoon heading towards whatever store in Luceti sells paint.

Fire Nation Red in her living room? Not anymore!]

Let's see... I guess I could go blue with green accents... or maybe something even more neutral? Maybe find a cream... No, no orange, it's too close to red...

[Katara has never had a chance to play with paints and colors before! She's a little lost with all the options. She just knows that she wants to make their shared space an open, welcoming one, one that represents all of them ~~and even the one that they're missing~~ and one which won't remind her of that stupid experiment's 'misplaced decimal.' But she has come far enough that she doesn't want it to just chase out Zuko either, although she is perfectly happy never seeing him again. Clearly, the girl is expecting too much out of paint. Someone help?]

Can you redirect lightning with that too? With all the other weather things that you can get it to do?

It can do a few things with lightning. If anyone tries to hit me with lightning, I can deflect it away. I can't aim it, though.

[Katara nods.] But if it was you, you wouldn't need to, right? Because it would just be like smoke?

[Have a grin.] That's a pretty great weapon, Nami.

It is very handy. Usopp did a great job with it.

[...which probably means she makes the best bait for Yuber. Joy.]

And how does it work? You're able to use it to make things?

Well, each section has a different function. [And she'll tap each separate piece as she lists them off.] Heat, cold, lightning. By themselves, they're not so powerful, although it's the cold one by itself that helps me make a mirage. Lightning packs a punch by itself, but not enough of one to put anyone strong down.

But it's when you mix them that you get the best results. Heat and cold together will form a cloud bank if used the right way, and the lightning one will charge it. There's your lightning storm.

I guess it's limited only by your imagination. [And knowledge of how weather phenomenon are created, but hey.]

[Thinking a more Katara-ized version of 'Sokka would shit himself,' Katara listens and lets what Nami's talking about realign her perceptions of the way the world works once again. Who would have thought that anyone could use three sticks to manipulate weather? But she'd seen the evidence of Nami's weapon at work...]

Just amazing... [Wide-eyed wonder is GO.]

[It's so nice to get wide-eyed wonder from someone. Nami will offer a grin as she puts it away.]

But yes, long story short, that's how I can create a mirage.

Was that the extent of the plan? They're still trying to work out who to use to lure him out?

[Katara nods.] They want it to be someone he won't suspect for challenging him, and someone who can handle being shot with lightning if things go wrong.

[A pause as Katara goes over her availible options to stop that from happening...] I don't know how his teleporting works. Have you seen him do it? Does he have to physically do anything before he can teleport?

I don't think so. He just seems to vanish without warning and appear elsewhere. No sound, either. [She's remembering the fight in Seventh Heaven; if Zoro hadn't called out to warn them, neither she nor Sanji would have had any hint that Yuber had teleported behind them.]

...hm.

I can handle lightning. But there's no way at all that Yuber would believe I'd challenge him.

[And she could set herself up as bait, but she has the bad feeling that would attract more than one fish if not handled carefully.]

Luffy can handle lightning, though. And they've already fought. But then ...I don't know if Yuber would fight him again, given that...

[No warning necessary meant that she couldn't contain him... not unless she froze him completely, and even that was no guarantee. Of course, if they waited for a full moon... but they didn't need to do that, she didn't need to do that.]

Luffy beat him?

No, Luffy drove him off. Yuber always teleports away the second he thinks he might lose.

[Katara nods.] I've fought people like that before. You can't trust them even if they tell you they surrender.

He's a coward through and through.

...hey, that ice trick you used in the square. How much water do you need for that?

[Katara blinks] To make ice? I can make ice out of anything, but how strong and how thick it is depends on what's available.

[And Katara decides to demonstrate. It's a bit painful to use the techniques that Hama taught her, but this still was one of the coolest things she'd ever seen a waterbender do. It's uncomfortable for other reasons as well... but Nami should her her weapon. Fair was fair. She moves her hand in a slow circle in the air and pulls from the moisture there. A thin layer of ice coats her three dominant fingers - she hadn't pulled all that was there, there was no need to push, and she wasn't going to be slicing anything as Hama had.] You see?

Wow, that's ...kind of ... [Kind of creepy, actually. But Nami's well aware of just how much moisture in the air.]

Kind of awesome.

What could you do with fog? Or steam?

[Katara shrugs a little and stops holding onto the ice. The heat from her body will melt it soon enough and she drops her hand down. She can tell that Nami didn't exactly have the reaction she was hoping for and kind of regrets bringing it up -- but drawing water from a place where there was 'none' in a time of need... that part of Hama's lesson was nothing to be ashamed of and she straightens her shoulders.]

I've made fog as cover before, but I've never really worked with it any other way. But it's water. I don't know why it would be any different.

[No, don't get her wrong, Katara. That is awesome. It was just surprising to see it happen so suddenly.]

Is there enough water in the air to be able to freeze someone if you have fog?

[She likes where you're going with this, but...] I don't know. It would depend on how much fog. And how thick we want the ice to be.

[And her imagination is captured by the possibilities] ...wow. That would be... really useful. Even if it was a thin coat of ice, it would cost people -- I mean, I could probably even concentrate it on specific people in an all out battle! I wouldn't even have to freeze them in a block, although that would probably be faster, I could just coat them. It wouldn't do much against a firebender, but...

See, I'm just wondering if we couldn't use that as a back up plan.

I could make you some pretty thick fog. At least while there's still snow on the ground. But I could probably do it with rain, too.

But if he doesn't need to do anything to teleport... would that even work?

...Unless, maybe, I iced him to the ground. That could slow him down.

[It depends on how much ice you use, really. Nami is about to say so, and then checks herself - she's talking to a 14 year old. She remembers too well what happened with Robin back when they met Aokiji - totally frozen - and how much stress that put on her system. She's not about to suggest Katara do that to someone else, even if the target is a demon.]

It could do. It certainly might distract him a little.

But honestly,I'd have to say I hope Plan A works, because Plan B is ...probably going to be to fight him. Until one side wins.

[You can work out how that goes from there, right?]

[Yup. We kick his ass! ...painfully.]

...then I guess it would be a good idea to have Luffy in the bushes too, huh?

[Then she nods. Katara will use whatever is at hand to get the job done.] I wouldn't mind practicing with you, sometime, if you want? It would be interesting to see how I could bend things I don't practice with often.

[She glances aside for a moment.] This place has so many threats that I haven't even heard of. I feel like my best chance is to use what I know, but if there are other ways to use it... [Hopeful upward glance, quick grin.] I'd like to try!

I'd be more than happy to help out! We should wait for the weather to clear and then just ...practice in the forest nearby? If I can create water and fog, we could probably come up with any number of ways to be impressive.

That would be really great, Nami! We could even bring Toph along so she could tell us if anyone came too close -- I'm guessing you don't want Aku knowing you're helping me, right?

[It's more out of curiosity that she's asking than anything else, and Katara now - finally - digs into her food with a will. Nothing like the prospect of kicking some ass to cheer a girl up. It's better than chocolate!]
