[So it's safe to say that this month has been more than a little crazy. But with nothing exploding in the past few days, she's finally had some time to take care of some basic etiquette. There is no postal system in Luceti, so Katara will be making some visits today. Namely, to all those who gave her a present who she doesn't live with, so we're looking at: Buffy, Jack, Trafalgar Law, Masaomi Kida, Nara Shikamaru, Harry Dresden, Vivi, Mia, Raine and anyone else I may have missed in my scan of the present table. Once she finds your living place, you will receive a handmade thank you card with pressed flowers from her garden inside. (Naturally, any of these deliveries may be handwaved, and if anyone in one of those apartment buildings/houses wants to wonder what she's doing there, feel free to say hello!)

But - hark! - sometime during her jaunt out and about town, Katara actually spots something in the clothing shop that catches her eye. A hat display! Right by the window! She heads inside (just for a moment or two, she swears) to start trying on what look to be several very silly hats. Feel free to catch her at this activity, but be warned! She may try and fit you with a hat as well.]

[ and then she heard the knock on her door, she does indeed show up to answer it. probably in her lounge kit: yoga pants and a tank top. ]

Is everything alright?

Oh, sure. I just wanted to stop by and see how you were - and give you this.

[There's one for Jack too, but here, have a Thank You note. It's got flowers!]

[ she lifts it from katara's hand with light fingers and...oh.

her smile is one of genuine surprise. people aren't so formal with their gratitude, back home. ] Jeez, Katara. You really didn't have to.

That's the way I feel about birthday presents.

[Honestly, it's so much not a South Pole thing. For maybe like, two birthdays you get birthday presents, if that.]

...They are a little awkward, aren't they? [ buffy would rather not celebrate a birthday at all, to be honest. ]

I'm just not used to getting so much stuff.

[She lives in a world with very little stuff.]

It's a lot easier knowing how to deal with giving birthday presents.

Yeah. I'm kinda bad at both parts. The giving and the getting.

[ it's almost an apology for what she'd handed over to the girl. ]

[ this clearly pleases her; buffy smiles. ]

[And her smile turns the slightest shade hesitant, but she beams it all the same.]

Actually, if you had time, I was hoping you could help me with this...

[And from her utility belt, Katara pulls out the nailpolish Buffy had given her.]

[ she lifts her brows. ]

Really? Oh. Uhm...[ she glances back at the rest of the house's interior. the couch. the coffee table. ] God, Katara. I'd absolutely love to. Have a seat?

[A smile.]

Thanks. I couldn't really figure out how to get it to come on smooth.

[And it wasn't water based, so bending was right out.]

[ she hovers at the linen closet -- still in sight -- and grabs a thin towel. ]

It's a bit of a learned skill, I guess. Not necessarily a super useful one. But a skill nonetheless.

It seems like a fun thing.

[ and now she's spreading the thin fabric over the coffee table's top. ]

It's weird. It kinda...helps me focus? Like, when the world gets a little too complicated I take a deep breath and work on my nails.

I'll be back in a sec. Just gonna grab an emery board.

Oh. Okay.

[So she'll just sit here, then.]

[ buffy doesn't take long before returning with a little zippered nail kit and a second bottle of clear polish. ]

I didn't realize you weren't familiar with this stuff. In that case? You might want a clear coat, too. You can keep this one. [ she shakes the bottle. ] I have lots.

You use the clear one as a primer?

Mmhm. And as a top coat. They sell them separately back home but I'm mostly convinced it's hogwash to need two separate clear coats.

[ buffy notes the confusion but lets it slide as she sets up her little makeshift manicure table. ]

Just...trust me. It'll be a bit of a leap of faith, at first.
