In which Katara's personality is affected: The horrible depression that she hasn't been able to shake since Sokka left? Gone. She is suddenly much happier.

Oh, also. There's teleportation. And thought bubbles. She apologizes if she ends up with her hand on your tea.

The last 4 days
Katara grew up in New York, the younger sister of Kate Bishop. Unfortunately, she had these... powers. She's learning how to deal with them while trying to save the world, you know, as one does as a Young Avenger.

Day 8-ish (of course he's got to visit when he's a water bender)

[Loki generally keeps to himself in Luceti, but he can't help but go see Katara from time to time. She's the only other water bender around, and she provides a taste of home that is both excruciating and sweet in its pain. It's a reminder of what he has lost and will never regain...but also a reminder of what he once had. Really, if he weren't so dedicated to torturing himself he probably would avoid her assiduously.

But he's gone by her house in the afternoon in the hopes of having a cup of tea and a conversation where he manages to speak of absolutely nothing of consequence.]

Day 7

[Aang's been getting teleported around all day. And now, it's time for him to be unceremoniously dumped on the beach. It's damp sand, too, as it's been showerig all day, but at least it seems like the rain's taken a break for now. He takes a moment to spit out some sand before he gets to his feet to dust off his robes and see if he's the only one stuck here.]

It was evident to Katara that Luceti was having another one of its massive convulsions. She had been here long enough that she remembered all of these experiments, but... it didn't really seem to bother her as it once had. Yes, it enraged her, and yes, she felt helpless, but at the same time there was so much more to be happy about... at least they weren't fighting a war at the moment.

So Katara was currently remembering Sanji and Sokka and experimenting with different types of crushed ice slushie things. That way if she ended up being teleported somewhere, as kept happening, at least she'd have a nice drink or some fruit in her hand. The kitchen counter was covered with the fruits - heh - of her labor.

She wasn't expecting company, but considering that she could disappear at any moment, she kept a peach-kiwi-lime concoction in her hand when she went to answer the door. Seeing who it was caused the usual feeling of family and loss and excitement. "Oh! Hello, Loki. Won't you come in?"

Day 7

[Yup. So far, the beach is eeeeempty.

But wait? What's that? Over in the ocean over there?

It's really way too cold and damp for anyone to be out in the ocean... unless that person happens to have grown up in the South Pole. Katara had been dumped here about twenty minutes ago and decided to take advantage of it by getting back in the habit of her waterboard!bending. She's having a grand ole time and hasn't seen that the beach now holds two.]

[Aang looks towards the ocean, hearing something other then the waves, and his face brightens when he spots Katara. He quickly runs up the shore towards the water. He's not too against the chill, either.]

Hey, Katara!

[Aang feels really glad - because it looks like, for a change, Katara is really having fun.]

And as always seemed to happen, almost in spite of himself, he smiled. It felt good to see someone familiar in ways other than just acquaintance. It made him feel less alone. And it felt good to see sometime that seemed at least a little happy to see him.

This was probably as close to coming home as he would ever get again. It gave him a sharp little pang of sadness to contemplate that, but he sol smiled.

"Yes, thank you." Invited in, he entered the house, pausing awkwardly just inside the door. "Everything all right?"

[Katara's face lights up when she sees him, just the way it always used to before every single future implication mess.] Aang!

[She pauses on the water and then bends her way back towards him in a zig-zagging motion.] What brings you out here?

[markofthebrave]

"I keep teleporting randomly," Katara said, shutting the door behind him and giving a little half-shrug. "And I think my thoughts are being put in bubbles over my head occasionally too. Besides that, I'm experimenting making some slushies for the warmer weather. Would you like to try one?"

Day 18

[lordhotman]

[The first thing Zuko did this morning was rush out of the house unannounced. If questioned he only said he has to get something.

Eventually he comes back, but wearing something different. THIS.]

[He rubs at the back of his head casually while impressed at her bending zig-zaggery.]

Oh you, just your usual teleporting shift! What about you?

Same. [She shrugs and steps out of the water.] I thought I might as well enjoy the warmer weather while I was here.

[markofthebrave]

[There is no universe where Katara is a morning person. Ever. But in this universe, Katara drinks coffee. Finding no coffee in the Avatar House, she is instead brewing tea. She's not sure why she's here instead of with her sister, but she knows it's experiment season. Might as well have some tea.

Then in walks Zuko with a fireman hat.

Huh. That's new.]

Where's the fire?

[lordhotman]

[Zuko has no idea what kind of hat this is. It was just the first one he saw, and so...]

Huh?

[He looks puzzled. Is that supposed to be a new firebending joke or something?]

[Katara gestures to her own head, tapping her temple lightly.]

Fire. You know, because you're wearing a fireman's hat?

[Was it just her, or was it too early for this?]

[He blinks then reaches up to take the hat off and look at it.]

Is that what this is? My horoscope said my love life would flourish with a hat, so I got this one.

[Yeah he's being completely serious here.]

You know... that's not a bad idea! It's making the best of the shifts being silly. Do monks get to enjoy, too?

[complicatedliar]

"That sounds very annoying." Loki eyed the empty space in the air over her head. "I'll tell you if any bubbles appear." Not that it would change anything, but at least she'd know if it was actually happening or not.

"That sounds very nice. Yes, please." He smiled. The expression felt a bit creaky from disuse. "I've been lucky. Nothing strange has happened to me as of yet."

[Katara blinks. Wow. Just... wow. Where does she even start?]

I'm all for trying to better your love life, but I think you should have maybe tried to find a hat that's a little more... that fits you a little better, don't you?

[Fashion. Fashion is a good place to start. Geeze.]

Iiiiiiii don't know. [She grins.] How are monks doing on their waterbending practice?

[markofthebrave]

"It is annoying. But it could be worse! The first time the teleportation thing happened was in the middle of winter and I had a cold. Every time I sneezed I ended up someplace different. Once I even landed on top of somebody!"

Michael. That had been awkward.

Katara made her way back over to the kitchen counter where all kinds of fruit were still waiting to be made into delicious slushies. "What kinds of fruit would you like to try?"

Uh...

[Well he hadn't really thought about it honestly. Did it really matter what kind of hat it was? The horoscope said it would happen. So. But whatever.]

Do you have any suggestions?

[She puts her hand up to her chin in thought.]

You'd probably look killer in a fedora. But I don't think you'd want their reputation. Maybe a newsboy cap? I wonder if the clothing stores have one here.

[lordhotman]

A what?

[English woman, use English... or... Chinese. Whatever language it is that they speak.]

They've been doing great. I swear! [He meekly attests.] But... They always did want to learn how to do that - that waterboardy move.

Newsboy hat. You know, with the brim? [She IS using English. Not that the translator is letting him pick that up...

Katara eyes the fireman's hat.] Or maybe you don't know, at that.
