[Action] .009

[Due to Sokka's unexpected bout of sheer win, Katara has been given the gift of free time and she plans on making the most of it... after she was shooed back to bed due to threats from Sokka that made no sense at all.

First, she wants to check in on Sanji at the Strawhat's House. Then she wants to stop by the school and see if she can register to go once things are back to 'normal.' And... she has an idea that is going to lead her to the weapons shop. Finally, she'll go grocery shopping because they're running low on easy-to-cook things. Maybe she'll even get a chance to stand by the bridge and practice with real waterbending! ...although saving her strength to keep healing Zuko is probably a better idea. She'll probably just stare at the water wistfully and talk to Sona.

If you're around any of these places today, feel free to say 'Hey!' or give her hand, since she's not exactly sure how to do what she wants to do at the smithy or the school.]

[Sanji-kun, huh? Ouch.]

That was nice of you. [She moves to sit down next to her.]

...you look exhausted. Are you... dealing okay?

[Force of habit. Hard enough to just say Sanji half the time.]

Yeah, I am. [She's not going too far into that. Not with a potential eavesdropper just around the corner.] Just had a busy morning, that's all.

[And in this case, Katara is certainly not going to push. She doesn't want to answer that question either - and she is also aware of potential evesdroppers.]

Yeah? What were you doing? [A soft 'heh'] Sokka forced me back to bed when I woke up, so I missed most of the morning.

Cleaning my room out. It's a little messy in there. The window got broken in the storm and there's kind of some water damage. [Ohoho, lies. Though she ...doesn't actually mind Katara knowing. But again, sensitive subjects in open spaces.]

Water damage? [Katara stands.] I can probably help with that.

[Hesitates.]

...okay. Follow me.

[And she'll get up to stretch, then shuffle off to her room, reaching out to open the door. Buuut before she does, she'll just flick Katara an apologetic glance and put one finger to her lips. Quietly.]

Don't ...touch the walls in here, okay?

Why wouldn't I touch the...

[Katara trails off as takes in the damage to Nami's room. Her fists clench at her sides and anyone who knew her well would know the controlled tone she next uses does not bode well.] No storm did this.

[Nami's not going to say anything else until they're both inside the room, closing the door carefully behind her and leaning against its relative safety. She ...doesn't want Sanji to see this. She's not even sure she'd want Sanji to see this if he were the right age. They'd both react the same way, in any event.

There's been an attempt to sort through various belongings to see if they can be salvaged, but precious little can, and the air still carries the heavy odor of ash. But hey, at least the window fixed itself. Nami gives a quiet cough. She's been in here too much this morning.]

...you'd be right.

[It smells like fire, which brings back more bad memories of her home destroyed than she'd like to admit. This, on top of everything else this week... Katara doesn't notice but she actually starts to tremble a little.]

What happened here.

[Ohh, she'll notice that. But she won't mention it right now. Nami has a couple of points to make, and oddly, the fact that Katara is affected helps her keep a grip of her own calm. This is days old, now. It's still ...trouble.]

The room was destroyed by Kefka while I was at the library the other day.

That coward. Spineless, worthless-- [Katara cuts herself off and stalkes over to the wall to examine the acid damage there. The water she's not worried about - but she takes an experimental sniff and nods, her eyes tearing a little from the smell.]

I can fix this. [Her voice is steady, but still very obviously angry. She glances back at Nami.] It's water-based. And all the rest - I just need something to put it in.

[It's the remants of a poison spell, that lovely stuff on the walls, but luckily at this point it's just ... rank. Harmless otherwise. Nami will consider that offer - it's lovely, and she really does appreciate it, and it probably shows in the small quirk of her lips as she crosses her arms, hugging her elbows. But in the end, she shakes her head.]

It might be good to get that stuff off the walls, just in case. But we're moving tomorrow. Kefka knows where my bedroom is. He'll just do it again.

...[Katara bows her head. They'd had to move their village due to attack as well.

But that's not going to stop her from doing this anyway. A tightly controlled form later and she's got the poison contained in an ugly looking cloud. Then she exhales and freezes it, leaving it floating there, ugly and and relatively harmless.]

I need something metal that can contain it.

[...okay, that was impressive. She's going to blink at it a bit in awe (and a bit of revulsion, not at what Katara did but what it's made of) before she starts and vanishes out of the room, coming back with one of the saucepans from the kitchen, complete with lid. (Sorry, Sanji-kun. She'll replace it.)]

[Katara bends the frozen ball of ice into the pot with barely a clunk. She's so angry, she doesn't even feel the exertion of her powers.]

Chopper probably knows some way to get rid of that safely. You could probably even just burn it up someplace where there weren't too many people.

All right. [She's frowning a little now. There's something distinctly not right about Katara being angrier about this than she is right now.]

Are you all right?

[Was she all right? No. Not really. The room still smelled like ash.]

I can't stand people who do things like this.

...unfortunately, this town is full of them.

[Deep breath. This was supposed to be a nice day - the last thing that either of them needed was to rehash how Luceti was the worst town ever. Katara smoothes her face out and focuses on doing something to distract Nami - it looks like she could use it too.]

So you're moving, huh? I guess that means you'll need new stuff.

...you know, I haven't been shopping for my room yet. [Or for myself. Note the same outfit.]

[...shopping trips are good for distraction! After a few moments, Nami will give her a tentative grin.]

I'll have to see if someone else is home first. [No leaving chibis in the house by themselves.] But sure! Sounds like fun.

[Look! What works for Sokka works for Nami! Besides... she needs to accept that she's not going home soon. Having stuff would probably... help with that.]

OK, good. [She glances around the room and makes a face. She heads towards the door.] Let's go.

[Hey, she's a material girl. Nami will stop off long enough to ensure there is a fellow Straw Hat around to watch Sanji, and then follow Katara out the door.]

So clothes shopping for the both of us, huh?

[Katara looks down at herself. She'd meant to get stuff for her room, but... is now suddenly self-conscious.] That's... probably a good idea.

[Grin.] You needed other stuff for home, you said? [Setting off for the markets. Girl powah. |D]

[She laughs.] Just stuff for my room. I haven't done much with it.

[...there's a brush. And a bed. And blankets!]

But I'm not allowed to go home until around dinner time. [And she rolls her eyes.]
