[It's the second day of a heatwave, and it's amazing how little things like weather can drive man-eating butterflies, flying trees of burning pointy doom, and missing friends from a Southern Watertibe girl's mind. ...OK, maybe not that last one, but she's feeling this heat in her bones, man, and it's driven her to put on her Fire Nation outfit and just lounge around, trying not to think about the horrible things she's seen week... which of course makes her think about the horrible things she's seen everywhere.

But the best way to get rid of bad memories is to think about good ones... and when that fails, make them.

And so, Katara Has An Idea. She grabs her brother, he agrees, and they make their way to the center of the square and set up a table. It's laden with fruits and sugars and stacks of glasses.

A little bit of waterbending later? And that fountain is now completely iced over, meant to resemble one of their 'Great Wonders of the World', an ice oasis in the middle of the desert.

When they're all set up, Katara makes a voice entry.]

Hey, everyone! Come on to the fountain for free fruit slushies!

[Feel free to come upon them on any part of the process, stop by for a slushie, or take a look at the pretty ice-fountain! Either Sokka, Katara or (eventually, as I have to run out right now) both will answer!]

Hey! Albert! You want one of these? [Behold the slushies. Are they not delicious and refreshing looking?]

[Behold a person who has never seen one of these before. Sure, crushed ~~Nanami~~ ice, and even ice cream... But not this.]

And what exactly do you call this beverage, Sokka?

Well, I was going to call them the "Fruitastic IceSPLOSION!"

... Katara seems to think slushie is fine though.

[And he will come close enough to watch the siblings work on the "slushing" the ice.] I can see why she would think so.

[He points at the fountain now.] The fountain will eventually return to normal, correct?

[A nod.] It's just regular ice. It'll melt soon enough. [But! To the business at hand.] Are you thirsty?

[And looking back at Sokka now. This is a guy standing around in this weather with a full coat.]

I am. [And he will look at the fruits available.] Recommendations?

[Hmmm. Sokka peers at the fruit in front of him.]

Apple... banana... and kiwi. How about that?

[He will simply nod. As long as you aren't throwing everything and the kitchen sink in there, Sokka, he can probably drink it.]

[Well he'll get those fruits all nice and chopped up, then thrown in the blender and then pour the resulting juice on the slushie.]

Enjoy!

[And he takes the cup, looking at the mixed contents and the blender before giving it a sip.]

Not bad. Is the drink from your world, or designed here?

[He offers a shrug.] Somewhat. We didn't have any fruit where we grew up, so we just mixed it with whale fat and sugar when we could get it. [Which wasn't often. But by his expression, it looks like that would be better than fruit.]

[...Whale fat. Really?]

It sounds like an acquired taste.

... I guess so. [Everything where he lives is.]

So... did you ever make a decision? About... that thing?

[He delays answering, taking a moment to drink before speaking.]

I had--sometime ago now. But with the-- [he gestures vaguely] --incidents recently, I had thought it prudent to not contact you.

I will teach you, bearing you keep in mind my warning.

[His eyes light up and his grin broadens.]

Really!? That's great, I mean- [Oh wait.]

[He quickly composes him and nods solemnly.]

Of course. I won't forget about that.

[Runes, don't go cross-eyed ever again, Sokka. It's disconcerting.]

Very good. Before our first session, I would like you to prepare a document of a historical battle from your world. Seeing as you would be familiar with the battle conditions and the outcome, I would like your analysis on if the outcome was favorable--and how the victor could have reduced casualties.

[Since he always has his journal on hand, he will set his drink down long enough to write this "assignment" for Sokka and tear the page out.]

[Well shit. Homework he has to actually turn in. And for something he unfortunately doesn't know a lot about, because history wasn't something they had much of growing up. Well, he would make do. He takes the scrap of paper.]

We will discuss your analysis for the first session, so it will be as productive as the effort you put into the piece. Then we will work from there.
