[It's the second day of a heatwave, and it's amazing how little things like weather can drive man-eating butterflies, flying trees of burning pointy doom, and missing friends from a Southern Watertibe girl's mind. ...OK, maybe not that last one, but she's feeling this heat in her bones, man, and it's driven her to put on her Fire Nation outfit and just lounge around, trying not to think about the horrible things she's seen week... which of course makes her think about the horrible things she's seen everywhere.

But the best way to get rid of bad memories is to think about good ones... and when that fails, make them.

And so, Katara Has An Idea. She grabs her brother, he agrees, and they make their way to the center of the square and set up a table. It's laden with fruits and sugars and stacks of glasses.

A little bit of waterbending later? And that fountain is now completely iced over, meant to resemble one of their 'Great Wonders of the World', an ice oasis in the middle of the desert.

When they're all set up, Katara makes a voice entry.]

Hey, everyone! Come on to the fountain for free fruit slushies!


[Feel free to come upon them on any part of the process, stop by for a slushie, or take a look at the pretty ice-fountain! Either Sokka, Katara or (eventually, as I have to run out right now) both will answer!]

[Hitsugaya is already out, having gone to the edge of the village and worked a bit with Hyourinmaru in an effort to cool off. It's just too hot to live. He's on his way to the fountain anyway when he checks the journal and hears Katara's voice. Fruit slushies, is it? That's actually tempting.]

[He stops at the fountain and just... stares. Oh hey. Ice. He likes that.]

[Hearing that entry over the journals, Gakupo makes his way toward the table, hands folded into his sleeves, but has to slow to stare up at the fountain curiously.]

[Yeah yeah, admire the fountain. If you want your slushie, better get over here and get it.]

[Yay! An admirer! She approaches and smiles at him.]

You like it? I thought it would make a nice change.

[Caesar wouldn't normally bother going outside when it's this hot, but you know, things to do and all. When he reaches the plaza, before he can head into the store and get whatever it is he's here for, it goes without saying that he notices the fountain. He tilts his head.]

Eh. You seen one hunk of ice, you've seen them all.

[Sokka pulls out a cup and fills it with slush.] So, what kind of fruit do you fancy?

That's the idea! And the ice should help cool off the square too.

[Rydia pauses by the fountain, on her way to do some errands...prehaps some more important than others. She definitely takes notice of the ice-fountain, though, and smiles.]

Now, that's a welcome sight!

[Katara's taking a break and sitting by the fountain - it's so nice to have that much ice at her back. She sees Rydia and breaks into a smile, giving an excited wave.]

Hey, Rydia! Come have a seat and a slushie!

[Ugh. The person who has been making her school experience so pleasant. She mutters:] Darn right it isn't.

Sokka's making them over there. [She inclines her head.]

[Seeing Sokka, but watching Katara steadily as he approaches with the look of a caged animal. It's just as it was before - he needs to make it loud and clear that he is not afraid of her. Being near her makes him tense, but he has to talk to her brother.]

_{[Even Azula is feeling the heat and she's changed out of her armor for the time-being. She's much more used to it, of course, but that doesn't mean she's going to let herself sweat. Her hair is loose - she's not that good at pinning it up herself. She breezes past the fountain for a moment, intent on finding someone who can ready-make her food for her - a princess doesn't cook after all - when she pauses to eye the ice.]}

...interesting. Pining for home?

[Ugh. Katara eyes the changes in Azula a bit warily before responding.] Yeah. Yourself?

[The heat doesn't affect her too much, but she does stop by the plaza after patrolling the area to admire the ice-fountain.]

[Sigmund didn't actually hear that announcement. He's out looking for his missing squire. But he's been looking since sunrise, and it's pretty hot to be dashing around in plate armor. When he sees the iced-over fountain, he can't help but reach out and touch it.

Looking around curiously now. Who did this?]

[Katara is off to the side, just reshaping a part of it since some more water had splurted out of the top. She glances over to him in his armor and her eyes go wide.]

You've got to be roasting in that thing? Are you all right?

[ Yellow's out searching for Gold again, wearing her hat, having tucked her hair there, in male guise because of the heat. She's distracted by the ice fountain so she'll be over her, staring. ]

[Sokka will just INTERRUPT YOU with a hand on your shoulder. A hand that's pretty cold from handling so many slushies.]

What a wonderful idea for this weather.

[Katara will just be over to the side, refreezing a layer of the fountain. It's hard work to keep it frozen in this heat, especially since she left the inner core loose so it could continue to spill out over the top. She turns to smile at him.]

Thanks! It's nice and cool if you want to take a seat by it, or Sokka is over there making slushies.

[Someone has spotted a lingering Roku! He gets a smile and a wave.] Hey, Roku!

[Smoker leads the tiny Kirimi here like he promised. He pretty much dwarfs the tiny kid since he's six and a half feet tall, but he seems more like a giant dog protecting her than actually intimidating at the moment.]

[And Katara will just be over there, refreezing a bit of the fountain. Sokka is probably still by the table at this point, and things are starting to wind down.]
