[ Action ] .044

[Should you be passing by the bridge between the clinic and the Item Shop on this fine, finally-a-break-from-the-heat afternoon, you will notice that there has been a certain change in the landscape. A large wall, seemingly made out of one solid chunk of earth has appeared by the riverbank and painted white. At varying points in the day there may also be some spheres, pyramids, inverted pyramids appearing beside the wall... and that white wall is on its way to becoming multicolored.

There by the wall is a large sheet and on it rest pretty much every container of water-soluble paint found in the Item Shop, mainly strong primary colors. There are balloons and small buckets and bowls, and just about everything you could want in order to throw paint at a white wall.

Random passerby, what do you do? Continue on your way and hope not to get splashed with mud, water, or paint? Stop to wonder at this strange work of 'art?' Or if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, there does seem to be more than enough paint...]

Yeah, I guess you're right. I don't know if they'd be so friendly to someone who wasn't an earthbender.

[And Fenimore's suspicion would be right--Toph didn't have some big, major reason for running away from home. Not until she met Aang, at least.]

I just didn't always like doing what my parents said. Even when I was little.
blessingone: (I'll be awful sometimes)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-11 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Still, I guess you don't have to worry about that now, being the world's greatest earthbender.

And you wouldn't be the first to run away like that. Thyra and I tried it when we were kids...but we only got as far as next door.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yup! You've got that right.

[And just to punctuate it, she bends a mini-badger mole out of the ground in front of her.]

Who's Thyra?
blessingone: (and to you everything will seem normal)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-11 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Woah. She'll pause in her painting to take a closer look at the badger-mole. ...Yeah, if that's what a badger mole looks like, she'd definitely call that a monster.]

She's my younger sister. That is, not by much -- we're twins, actually. I was just born first. [A pause, and her expression grows somewhat weirded-out.] Though, I guess there's more of a difference now. [If Thyra were to come to Luceti from the same point in time as Fenimore, she'd have more than a year on her. That is weird.]

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[They're just misunderstood!]

You're a twin? Sweet! [But she can follow Fenimore's train of thought.] I guess it's not quite the same for me, but it was weird to come here and have Katara and especially Sokka be so much older than they were back home. [She screws up her face a bit.] I feel like the only kid around these days.
blessingone: (tired of singing all these sad songs)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-13 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm sure that doesn't change how things are between you. [But the response is kind of automatic, to try to reassure. It might be mostly true, but it's not exactly the point.] It does feel weird, though. My best friend was here for nine months before me, plus however much she was ahead of me back home. I mean, things were mostly the same, but she'd already grown up a lot from when I remembered her.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, exactly. Back home? Sokka was just my buddy. But here? He's all grown up and getting married and stuff. [She'll leave out the part about how she used to have a crush on him, too. That was just...weird to think about now.]
blessingone: (like you could save me)

1/2

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-15 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Very wise to leave that out. Fenimore tends to get fairly nosy about that sort of thing.]

I don't know if I'd say he's all grown up.
blessingone: (Default)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-15 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[But more seriously:] That can't be easy to adjust to, though.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-16 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
[She smirks a bit. Yeah, Sokka was older, but he was still definitely Sokka.] You've got a point there. I dunno if he'll ever grow out of it entirely.
blessingone: (I'll be awful sometimes)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-17 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking by this point he won't. Suki must be the most patient woman ever to put up with him. [She's exaggerating, but for comedic effect.]

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-17 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, you've got that right. I'm sure glad I'm not in her shoes.
blessingone: (it's my face now shirley)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-19 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Me, too. [Then she giggles.] Even if I'm told they're very comfy. [She sounds more amused than the comment deserves -- she's remembering one experiment where Sokka was trapped in Suki's body and made a big deal of how comfy Suki's shoes were.]

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-19 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
[And Toph catches on to that. She stops working on a little Bosco the Bear statue and plays the comment back in her head--that sounded like there was a story behind it.]

Um...does she talk about her shoes being comfy a lot, or something?
blessingone: (the sun comes through the sky)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-19 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Another laugh.] No, it's just -- I probably shouldn't tell you about this. [She hesitates.]

Let's just say that Sokka had to borrow Suki's shoes once, and he kept talking about how comfortable they were. That's all.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-19 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[She cocks an eyebrow. Borrowed Suki's shoes? That sounded pretty fishy.]

Well, if you're not gonna tell me, I guess I'll just have to ask him later.
blessingone: (and to you everything will seem normal)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-20 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Ffff. Hmm. She'd not feel so bad about telling her about it if she weren't sure what Suki would think of it. And she told Sokka that she wouldn't tell people about his time as a girl, which would only embarrass him. She sighs.]

I'd tell you, but -- I promised him I wouldn't tell anyone. I shouldn't have even said that much.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-20 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[She frowns, not really wanting to get Fenimore in trouble, but curious all the same. Hmm.]

Maybe I'll find another way to get it out of him.
blessingone: (and to you everything will seem normal)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-25 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Uh. [Hmm. Maybe she should tell her and ask her to keep quiet about it?

...Probably best not to put her foot any further in her mouth than it already is.]
Well, maybe. It was just a weird thing the Malnosso did a while ago.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Then she frowns, temporarily distracted by this.] Ugh, yeah. They just keep getting worse and worse, it seems like.
blessingone: (I know more of the stars and sea)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-06-29 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
[She frowns, too.] It's not like they were ever any good. ...There's nothing we can do about that, though. [Time to take out her frustrations at the Malnosso by picking up a small paint bucket and sloshing its contents at the wall.]

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-06-29 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
...Good point. Guess we just gotta make the most of it. Show 'em there stupid experiments can't get us down! [She's saying this as much for her own benefit as for Fenimore's.]
blessingone: (I'll be awful sometimes)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-07-03 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[There's slightly more hesitation than she would have had before she experienced a mallynap, but, after the hesitation, she manages a little smile.] Yeah. It's not like the village is such a bad place to be. And most of the people here are pretty nice.

[identity profile] banditsblindly.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[She considers this for a moment before shrugging.] Guess so. I'd still rather be at home, though.
blessingone: (like you could save me)

[personal profile] blessingone 2011-07-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that goes without saying. You'd have to have a terrible home to prefer to stay here.
