[After a good cry, some good advice, and throwing down with the whole of Luceti against Aku the other day, Katara is feeling much more like herself. And she is on a mission. She can be found mid-afternoon heading towards whatever store in Luceti sells paint.

Fire Nation Red in her living room? Not anymore!]

Let's see... I guess I could go blue with green accents... or maybe something even more neutral? Maybe find a cream... No, no orange, it's too close to red...

[Katara has never had a chance to play with paints and colors before! She's a little lost with all the options. She just knows that she wants to make their shared space an open, welcoming one, one that represents all of them ~~and even the one that they're missing~~ and one which won't remind her of that stupid experiment's 'misplaced decimal.' But she has come far enough that she doesn't want it to just chase out Zuko either, although she is perfectly happy never seeing him again. Clearly, the girl is expecting too much out of paint. Someone help?]

...I'm not so sure how cunning it is, but Sokka seems to think its our best shot. He wants to lure Yuber out to a specific spot over the tunnels by having someone challenge him to a fight. Once Yuber's there, Toph will earthbend a hole under him, and there will be a cage in the tunnel with people waiting down there for Yuber. They'll rush Yuber, and chain him up, and that will be that.

[Katara looks down and pokes at her food. She is clearly dubious.]

Sounds a little over complex. Though I knew about the hole-into-the-tunnels part. [Sokka was using her maps for it.] But once he's in the tunnels, all they need is to lock him up. There's plenty of rooms down there.

The problem lies in doing that before he snags a clue and teleports away.

Or in getting him there in the first place! He's a chaos demon, right? [Someone has been stalking Yuber's journals and conversations with Tormod.] If he was going to meet to meet someone to fight, why would he do it out in the forest, where no one could see? There are people who are just... not very honorable about facing fighting challenges. And if all he wants is to cause more pain and suffering, why go after the person who challenges him at the time and place of the challenger's choosing? Why not wait and get him on his own terms?

Hmm. I can see your point.

On the other hand, for a chaos demon he's predictable. Smart, yes, but he has taken challenges and met people before.

But I agree. Challenging him out of the blue is going to make him suspicious, especially given the town's attitude to him so far.

[This makes Katara feel a little better.] Then I guess we'll just have to be really careful about who challenges him, and make sure they have a good reason.

[A pause. And, no, Katara hasn't actually eaten anything yet.] There was some talk about asking you to make a mirage of the person he was going to attack so there would be less risk? But nothing ever got explained on how you'd be able to do that or if it would even work against Yuber.

...huh.

[Just let her consider that from all angles from a moment.]

Technically I should be able to, but I've never tried before this. The problem is it's kind of a bending of an image - like displacing it a few feet away, and that's awfully hard to do for someone. It's ...complicated to explain. I think I'd have to be at pretty short range to the person I'm trying to conceal, and I couldn't conceal both of us at the same time. That's just too difficult.

It does work against Yuber, though. I've used it before.

[Katara managed to follow most of that.] What do you use to make it? You haven't eaten one of those devil fruit things too, have you?

[Well, seeing as it's already been brought up by someone else. She wonders who, actually.]

I've got an excellent sense of the weather; oncoming storms, pressure systems, that kind of thing. Usopp made me a weapon that lets me take advantage of that. [And she'll draw it out of her coat; all three pieces of blue metal staff, laying them down on the table.] Lets me create anything from a mirage to a storm. To rain, actually.

[Grin.]

[Click, click, click. Ding!] You mean you were the one making it rain yesterday? Thank you so much! I knew the rain wasn't natural, but I didn't have time to think-- you were a really big help!

[Making. Water. Katara's officially impressed. She's wished she could do that over a thousand times.]

Thank you! I was mainly trying to put the fires out, but seeing you work with it was great. [Colour her appreciated!]

It was really great to have so much to work with! I can't hold as much water as I used to, so having it all right there really made up for a lot. The most I can do is pull water out of air -- I can't make it like that.

Well, if you ever need it, let me know. I'm more than happy to help out in a good cause around here. [It makes up for all the times they lose, bah.]

But yes. Back to the first point ... I doubt I could make a decent mirage for anyone else that wasn't ...right there with me. Not without months of practice, anyway.

So considering that, if we wanted to use it, I may as well just go out there myself.

Can you redirect lightning with that too? With all the other weather things that you can get it to do?

It can do a few things with lightning. If anyone tries to hit me with lightning, I can deflect it away. I can't aim it, though.

[Katara nods.] But if it was you, you wouldn't need to, right? Because it would just be like smoke?

[Have a grin.] That's a pretty great weapon, Nami.

It is very handy. Usopp did a great job with it.

[...which probably means she makes the best bait for Yuber. Joy.]

And how does it work? You're able to use it to make things?

Well, each section has a different function. [And she'll tap each separate piece as she lists them off.] Heat, cold, lightning. By themselves, they're not so powerful, although it's the cold one by itself that helps me make a mirage. Lightning packs a punch by itself, but not enough of one to put anyone strong down.

But it's when you mix them that you get the best results. Heat and cold together will form a cloud bank if used the right way, and the lightning one will charge it. There's your lightning storm.

I guess it's limited only by your imagination. [And knowledge of how weather phenomenon are created, but hey.]

[Thinking a more Katara-ized version of 'Sokka would shit himself,' Katara listens and lets what Nami's talking about realign her perceptions of the way the world works once again. Who would have thought that anyone could use three sticks to manipulate weather? But she'd seen the evidence of Nami's weapon at work...]

Just amazing... [Wide-eyed wonder is GO.]

[It's so nice to get wide-eyed wonder from someone. Nami will offer a grin as she puts it away.]

But yes, long story short, that's how I can create a mirage.

Was that the extent of the plan? They're still trying to work out who to use to lure him out?

[Katara nods.] They want it to be someone he won't suspect for challenging him, and someone who can handle being shot with lightning if things go wrong.

[A pause as Katara goes over her availible options to stop that from happening...] I don't know how his teleporting works. Have you seen him do it? Does he have to physically do anything before he can teleport?

I don't think so. He just seems to vanish without warning and appear elsewhere. No sound, either. [She's remembering the fight in Seventh Heaven; if Zoro hadn't called out to warn them, neither she nor Sanji would have had any hint that Yuber had teleported behind them.]

...hm.

I can handle lightning. But there's no way at all that Yuber would believe I'd challenge him.

[And she could set herself up as bait, but she has the bad feeling that would attract more than one fish if not handled carefully.]

Luffy can handle lightning, though. And they've already fought. But then ...I don't know if Yuber would fight him again, given that...

[No warning necessary meant that she couldn't contain him... not unless she froze him completely, and even that was no guarantee. Of course, if they waited for a full moon... but they didn't need to do that, she didn't need to do that.]

Luffy beat him?

No, Luffy drove him off. Yuber always teleports away the second he thinks he might lose.

[Katara nods.] I've fought people like that before. You can't trust them even if they tell you they surrender.
