[ Voice, Action ] .017

[It's the second day of a heatwave, and it's amazing how little things like weather can drive man-eating butterflies, flying trees of burning pointy doom, and missing friends from a Southern Watertibe girl's mind. ...OK, maybe not that last one, but she's feeling this heat in her bones, man, and it's driven her to put on her Fire Nation outfit and just lounge around, trying not to think about the horrible things she's seen week... which of course makes her think about the horrible things she's seen everywhere.

But the best way to get rid of bad memories is to think about good ones... and when that fails, make them.

And so, Katara Has An Idea. She grabs her brother, he agrees, and they make their way to the center of the square and set up a table. It's laden with fruits and sugars and stacks of glasses.

A little bit of waterbending later? And that fountain is now completely iced over, meant to resemble one of their 'Great Wonders of the World', an ice oasis in the middle of the desert.

When they're all set up, Katara makes a voice entry.]

Hey, everyone! Come on to the fountain for free fruit slushies!

[Feel free to come upon them on any part of the process, stop by for a slushie, or take a look at the pretty ice-fountain! Either Sokka, Katara or (eventually, as I have to run out right now) both will answer!]

Uh... [What are those looks for, guys.] I suppose you could say I was bit preoccupied. You know. With those Malnosso jerks. It wasn't quite the vacation I'd been hoping for.

... oh. You were kidnapped. What did they do to you?

Sokka! [Katara reaches out and punches him on the shoulder.] He doesn't have to answer that.

[Nevermind that she would have asked the same thing, if not quite like that.] You're all right?

[He shrugs again.] Nothing worth mentioning. Fortunately for me, it was rather unexciting.

I'm fine, though. Those jerks will need more than some stupid experiment to take down a Silverberg. [The look on his face when he says it is confident. He really had been pretty lucky, even if he didn't know it.]

Ow! [GAWD SISTER.

Oh, your slushie is finished.]

Well, I'm glad to hear that it was unexciting. It's bad enough that they can take us whenever they want when we never know what they're going to do...

[Oh, right. Today is about good memories. Have a smile, Caesar. It's not much, but it's there!] I'm glad you're back all right.

Try your slushie!

[He understood what she meant. There was plenty he could say, but now wasn't the time for it (especially since it's hot outside, and he thinks he may melt). So, as he takes the slushie, he just grins at Katara.] Yeah, me, too.

[And since she insisted, he'll go ahead and try it. A pause, and then-] Huh. Not bad, not bad. It's... different.

[... not bad?]

You were the one who asked for kiwi.

Just plain kiwi? I would have thrown some strawberries in.

But I guess it's cool still - and that's the important part. Does it get this hot where you're from, Caesar?

[Caesar shakes his head at Sokka.] Forgive me for not jumping for joy when I taste something delicious.

Not at all. It's fairly temperate where I come from. Lots of rain, though. Guess you guys are more used to warmer weather?

[He'd glare at you for that, but the next comment is surprising and amusing.]

... no. We were born in the South Pole, where it's practically winter year round.

[She laughs a little.] What do you mean, 'practically?' Even in summer we still had snow on the ground.

I see. Her outfit threw me off. [He motions toward Katara.] The drink, too. You've at least spent some time where it was warmer, then.

[After all, the clothes these two normally wore were most likely native to their world. ...unless everyone dresses like that in the South Pole. And drinks cold stuff to make them feel... less cold. Or something.]

[Yeeeeah, Sokka isn't crazy about the fact his sister is walking around in Fire Nation clothes. Even if it is hot.]

We spent the last year traveling abroad. Saw the world. Expanded our wardrobe. Discovered fruity beverages. Overthrew a tyrant. You know. Typical teenager self-discovery stuff.

[Sokka is having secret trysts with Fire Nation girls. He can suck it up. She shrugs a little wryly.]

I had to pick this off of someone's clothesline. The blue would have given us away. I even had to take off my necklace. [And she reaches up and touches the blue stone with one hand, as if to reassure herself that it's still there.]

Of course. The usual. [Caesar nods. It seemed like a lot of people had those kinds of stories to tell. He just didn't tend to listen to them.] I can understand if it just happens to be convenient for a day like this.

I don't use my Fire Nation clothes anymore. [Only Wang Fire does. In any case, his Water Tribe clothes are actually looser than what he had to wear in disguise.] Besides, I work in the smithy all the time. It's a lot hotter in there then it is out here.

[Katara plucks at her shirt.] Maybe I will see if I can die it blue. If we're going to be stuck here and it gets this hot in the summer...

[Caesar can tell by Sokka's words that he's not too pleased with his sister's actions. Maybe he should cut this short, then. It would be awkward to get stuck in the middle of it.]

It'll require some adjustment, of course. [He takes a sip of his drink and glances away from the two, in the direction of the store.] I think I was supposed to be doing something...

[He's not that bothered. It's more the fact that it's revealing than it is red that bothers him.]

Oh come on Ceasar! [Have an arm wrapped around your shoulder.] Why do that? I've got two boats finished now, you know. And it's warm. Isn't it about time we had that fishing trip?

[Dude, she wore this all around the Fire Nation and you didn't even blink. As it is, she raises her eyes at Sokka's wrapping his arm around Casear's shoulders. That's never good.]

...you're still going to go kill the talking fish?

Huh. We were supposed to go fishing, weren't we. [His tone is disinterested. He didn't forget, he just kind of hoped that Sokka would have.] I'm not terribly busy anymore, I suppose. I'm sure we can figure something out.

Yes Katara. I'll be eating talking fish. [Have a roll of the eyes as he turns back to Caesar.]

We'll take Hugo too. And see who else wants to go.

[Sokka is obviously doing his best to exclude Katara from the conversation and draw a 'men's only' line. Normally, this is something that she would protest.

But he wants to go kill and eat talking fish. That's not something she wants to hear about anymore.] Ugh.
