[It's the second day of a heatwave, and it's amazing how little things like weather can drive man-eating butterflies, flying trees of burning pointy doom, and missing friends from a Southern Watertibe girl's mind. ...OK, maybe not that last one, but she's feeling this heat in her bones, man, and it's driven her to put on her Fire Nation outfit and just lounge around, trying not to think about the horrible things she's seen week... which of course makes her think about the horrible things she's seen everywhere.

But the best way to get rid of bad memories is to think about good ones... and when that fails, make them.

And so, Katara Has An Idea. She grabs her brother, he agrees, and they make their way to the center of the square and set up a table. It's laden with fruits and sugars and stacks of glasses.

A little bit of waterbending later? And that fountain is now completely iced over, meant to resemble one of their 'Great Wonders of the World', an ice oasis in the middle of the desert.

When they're all set up, Katara makes a voice entry.]

Hey, everyone! Come on to the fountain for free fruit slushies!

[Feel free to come upon them on any part of the process, stop by for a slushie, or take a look at the pretty ice-fountain! Either Sokka, Katara or (eventually, as I have to run out right now) both will answer!]

[No more so than the times (yes, plural!) he walked for days through a desert in this get-up. Although a drink does sound tempting. Very tempting. But business before pleasure.]

Perhaps later. Have you seen a small girl wandering around carrying a sword?

[Katara blinks.] Do you mean Katie?

[Sigmund stands up a little straighter, looking hopeful.] Yes.

[Katara is immediately concerned.] Not for a few days. Why, has something happened to her?

[Now he looks defeated. And tired, and hot.] She' not been home in days. I think she might have been taken.

Taken? By the Malnosso?

[He looks longingly over at those drinks. Maybe just a quick break before he gets back to looking for her.]

There was no mess or message. I do not know. [But- chin up, shoulders squared. Now's not the time to be pathetic.] I will keep searching.

...there are other people who are missing too. And there wasn't any sign of droids, from what we know...

[OK. One thing at a time.] Sokka might know more. He's over by the drinks.

When she returns, I will inform you. [Not if, when. He's going to go grab a drink now, because she's right, it is hot. But he'll be back. Her bending is pretty fascinating, he wants to ask about it.]

[Indeed, Sokka IS over there. He hasn't really been paying attention to you though.]

((ooc: Is Sigmund wearing the armor Edward recently made for him?

[That's okay, Sokka, the ignoring was mutual. He knows you, though. You were the kid with the boat. Also you have something he wants, which is the best way to get his attention, so he clanks on over to the table.] You're handing out drinks?

((ooc: No, but his primary armor is similar in design to that suit. Just. Even fancier, if you can believe it.))

Yeah. Any flavor you'd like?

[Looking over the table. He's really not a fruit person. He shrugs.] I've no preference.

Alright then! [Authorization to experiment!] Mango-Orange-Strawberry it is!

[He pulls out his sword and starts chopping.]

[With his sword?! That poor sword. What did it do to deserve such mistreatment?]

...You know something about the recent disappearances?

[By being a MAGIC METEOR SWORD obv.]

Yeah. There's been a lot of people. [A lot of them his friends.] Why?

[That only makes it worse. Magic meteor sword deserves love and respect, you barbarian.]

A young girl in my care has been missing for days. I wondered if it might be connected.

... maybe. Who is she?

Her name is Katie. She sometimes carries a small sword?

Oh! I know her. [Think think... wait. She joined Haruki's brigade too, didn't she? He's starting to sense a pattern here.]

Seems like a lot of the other SOS Brigade people are missing too. They didn't have any meetings on Friday.

[A sigh. That doesn't sound like a kidnapping. He's just going to have to keep an eye out for her.]

[In Sokka's imagination, it's worse. He's convinced it's a secret draft.]

[He waves the apology off. Not needed. Either way, Sigmund's would-be squire seems to be well out of his reach for now. How frustrating. But there's something he's been thinking about. He should ask now, while he's here.]

You were the one who made the boat. Could you make another?

[Ah! Boat construction, Sokka's latest hobby.]

Actually I've already started on a third. Why?
