[For no very specific reason at all, Katara is happy this late afternoon. The air is getting colder, and the very fact that it's nipping at her face is enough to make her smile. Add to that the glorious storm of yesterday, that it is still drizzling...

It's started drizzling as she runs her errands in town, and she puts a hand up to bend an 'umbrella' above her head as she walks along. She forgets herself, though, as she comes to some large puddles in the road, and dropping her hand, stares at them for half a beat.

Well, she's already wet.

So she jumps in. Not bending at all, simply splashing about in the puddles along her way.

Feel free to catch her in this rare display of immaturity and glee - or even join her! Hopefully she won't catch a cold.

Much later, as she prepares dinner for her house, she makes a voice post.]

Anyone else looking forward to the change in the weather?

[One last SPLASH and Katara climbs out of the puddle.] Race you to the covering!

[And she takes off running. Yes, she is apparently eight today.]

[And Katara gets a nice, healthy head start while Ami stares.

But then Ami runs.]

[Katara reaches the covering and turns to grin at Ami - wherever she is.]

Cold and wet is never a good combination. [And she bends the water off herself.] Want me to do you too, or is that something your powers let you do?

[Curious Katara is curious about such things.]

[Ami stares at Katara a moment.]

I don't know. I've never tried to do that.

Do you want to?

I'm kind of nervous, doing it in front of someone. I never have before, except in battle.

[And yet at the same time... it's kind of nice having someone who knows her secret.]

Really? [Katara pauses, considering the other girl.] In my world, bending is a part of life. In the North Pole, benders construct beautiful houses made out of snow, and man the waterways... it's the same thing in the Earth Kingdom. I was bending long before I found a master. [She laughs a little wryly.] And I wasn't very good at all. So you don't have to worry about it, if you want to try.

I'm the only one in my world that can do it like this. Mars can do it with fire. Jupiter can do it with wood or lightning. Venus can do it with light, metal.

[Blink.] So it's not just elemental powers that you guys have...

[Wood and lightning? How did they get put together?

And then she shrugs it off.] I was the only bender in the South Pole... that had to be hard for you, in your world, to be the only one so connected to water.

[Jupiter. Oak leaves. It'd make more sense if Katara's world had the same mythologies.]

I guess it was the same for the others.

[A small, encouraging smile.] Well, then at least you had each other, right?

[She shakes her head] We all fought separately.

[Katara blinks, absorbing that.] That's too bad.

[She... really doesn't like that, actually. But she'll move on since, Ami's still wet.] But while you're here, why don't you feel free to go ahead and use them?

[It's fine; she's used to things being like that.]

Mm. But how would I use it to dry off? Move the water away?

[Katara nods, smiling.] You could try it like that! It makes sense, right? Does your power let you feel the water there, on you?

[A nod] It does.

[And a few drops, while she focuses, fall away from Ami and to the ground]

That's great! And now see - I don't know. Try to push. Like the tides.

[If only she knew it, this was all so much easier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgmhmVlH37U) in the darkness. But the same abilities are still inside her. Ami gives a serious nod, and the water drips away quicker, leaving her drier and drier]

[Katara just smiles encouragingly - what she's doing is obviously different than bending, she's not sure saying anything else will help.]

[And finally, all dry! Ami smiles with honest accomplishment.]

I did it. Thank you.

[A quick grin!] No need to thank me! You did it all yourself.

Now, how about that tea?

[But Katara helped!]

Mm! Let's go.

Does the Seventh Heaven sound okay to you?

I don't know it, but I'd like to try it.

Then let's go! [And since the covering does not extend all the way to the Seventh Heaven, Katara bends a rain umbrella for them as they go.]
