[Filtered 100 percent AWAY from: Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Yue, Suki, Shikamaru, Chouji, Ino, Shino, Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Trafalgar, Nami, Sanji, Luffy, Chopper, and anyone else she thinks might recognize her handwriting, despite the pains she's going to in order to disguise it, or show the journal to people she really doesn't want to see this - Raine and Temari and Iroh.

Do you think that there's such a thing as a power that is wrong, not because of how it's used, but just because of what it does?

[After staying holed up in her room with the door shut - quite an unusual break of habit for her - Katara decides to head into town. She wants to check out that night club that she'd heard about - she heard there would be music!

From there it's the usual errands, like the grocery store and the Item Shop. Dinner tonight will be Something Spicy, but she hasn't figured out what yet. Maybe it'll help get Sokka out of his funk.]

[Pssh. He rarely talks to his friends on the journals - an announcement, or to let Chouji if they need something at the store, maybe. If he really wants to talk to a friend, first he tries to track them down.]

Yeah. It's been a while, so I thought I'd stop by. [She said she had something to tell him, too... but with the draft, he thought he'd give her more time.] Glad I caught you after all.

[It's just one bag, but it's a long walk from the store to her house.]

[Here. It's got milk and meat and cheese in it, also a bunch of strange vegetables and some rice pudding. It's actually pretty heavy. So she doesn't mind at all.] Thanks.

[He takes the bag and adjusts it's weight to keep it all from falling out. Doing so, he can't help but notice what's inside it.]

What are those? Some kind of fruit?

Avocados. [It's said with relish.] It's a vegetable. Doesn't it sound delicious?

I tend to judge food by how it tastes, not how it sounds.

One thing at a time. If you learn the name first, then that tells you something.

Eh. I don't think about that stuff unless the name means 'poison' in somebody else's world.

And hopefully they wouldn't put that kind of stuff in the grocery store. [o_o]

[La la la, look at her making light and casual conversation. It's not as if she'd spent the morning and most of the afternoon in Deep Thought or anything.]

The Malnosso are a pain in the ass, but I don't think they have much to gain by doing that.

[And subject change, go.] What're you actually making with the things anyways?

An Earth recipe. [Sokka's been acting kind of weird lately so - but somehow, she changes her mind and doesn't quite say that.] It's called 'fajitas.' Ever heard of it?

[He shakes his head.] Can't say I have. Chouji might, though.

It's spicy meat and cheese wrapped up in thin with peppers and onions. You can put other stuff on it too - I thought it would be nice to try something different.

Heh. Doesn't sound half bad. You'll have to tell me how it comes out, and I can pass it on to Chouji.

[Glancing on over at him.]

So what were you looking for me for?

[Usually, she's the one coming over there to hang out. Usually. If Shikamaru had asked around or otherwise ascertained, it's been a while since she visited.]

[He knows.]

Like I said, to check in on you. It's been a while.

[And because she said she wanted to talk to him, but he doesn't say that just yet. She's his friend. That's important to him too.]

Yeah. You even stopped sparkling. [A quick smile] Congratulations about that.

[Well, how is she? Not at her best, that's for sure. But she never is after drafts. Nightmares. The lack of sleep. Sokka acting strangely. Nami being - so hurt. The weight of all the decisions and thinking she'd done earlier in the day.

There's a slowness to her movements and a certain kind of heaviness. She never wears a lack of sleep well, and it can be seen in the corners of her eyes.]

[You have no idea how embarrassing it was to take Yue to Lucetiland, looking like that. 8|]

[And he sees them - has seen them, at least one before. Point of comparison. He expects it.

She only looked mildly better before the draft, is what concerns him.]

[OR MAYBE NOT. He raises an eyebrow, but given what he's heard of other people's worlds... he can understand it too. There are people where he's from with some pretty grotesque abilities - and he doesn't even consider Shino to be one of those people anymore. That says something right there.]

Yeah, it kinda is. [And he misses it.] Shino's bugs aren't so bad, though. It sounds creepy, but that's the only way for them to live, really.
