[After a good cry, some good advice, and throwing down with the whole of Luceti against Aku the other day, Katara is feeling much more like herself. And she is on a mission. She can be found mid-afternoon heading towards whatever store in Luceti sells paint.

Fire Nation Red in her living room? Not anymore!]

Let's see... I guess I could go blue with green accents... or maybe something even more neutral? Maybe find a cream... No, no orange, it's too close to red...

[Katara has never had a chance to play with paints and colors before! She's a little lost with all the options. She just knows that she wants to make their shared space an open, welcoming one, one that represents all of them ~~and even the one that they're missing~~ and one which won't remind her of that stupid experiment's 'misplaced decimal.' But she has come far enough that she doesn't want it to just chase out Zuko either, although she is perfectly happy never seeing him again. Clearly, the girl is expecting too much out of paint. Someone help?]

He could turn himself into lighting? [And Katara is torn between eagerly wanting to hear the story and trying to figure out how that's possible -- and how to fight it. Warrior wins over little girl and her brow furrows.]

I've fought someone who used lightning before, but I've never heard of anyone who was able to turn into lightning before. And it was a large enough bolt to be able light a whole island on fire?

[That would be really hard to deflect...]

More like a lightning storm than a single lightning bolt.

He'd be the only one who can turn himself into lightning in our world, though. [Pauses for a second - she knows Katara has already met Brook and Chopper and Luffy, so:] Has anyone told you about devil fruits?

[Her voice is a little worried. Despite having met the skeleton man and the talking reindeer, she hasn't exactly had a chance to speak to them, and other things were on her mind so she didn't follow up about them.] No, but it doesn't sound good.

They're fruits that grant the user some type of ability after eating. Luffy, Chopper, and Brook all ate one. So did that "god".

[sandwiches finished~! Next he'll lightly toss the fruit in that sauce of his. Biscuits that are in the oven will be done in another minute or two]

Only one fruit of each kind exists at a given time, so as Nami-san said, only he can turn himself into lightning.

Luffy? [She remembers meeting him, and she remembers him bringing a huge bag of meat, but she doesn't remember him doing anything like... being a doctor reindeer or a living skeleton.] What does the fruit make him do? And where does the fruit come from? Is it -- safe?

You know, I'm not exactly sure where it comes from. I know it grows on the Grand Line somewhere. But Luffy ate one that turned him into rubber, which is ...a lot more useful than it sounds.

[...and she's not sure whether to tell Katara about their downside or not. It's not the smartest sort of information to give out to anyone, really. So for now, she'll leave that part out, though Sanji might have other ideas.]

[Katara doesn't have much experience with this material. She's... got no idea what this means in terms of Luffy's abilities. She's just going to stay silent for a few moments and chew over what she's hearing. She's got the expectant look of someone who's waiting for the end of the story.]

There's a price to pay for eating one. [Sanji's caught on how Nami glossed over that issue, but for now he sees no reason to keep it from Katara. She's a smart girl; he'll bank on her keeping it to herself. And if not, that's a bridge they'll cross later]

He can't be submerged in water or he sinks like a hammer. [And now that most of the meal is done, Sanji turns to face them, leaning lightly against a counter]

...And you're pirates? So you're sailing all the time with three people who can't swim?

Four, actually.

Four...

[Katara's still got no idea what this whole 'rubber man' thing is all about, she's just zooming in on what her suspension of disbelief has latched onto as the most dangerous part of this story. What kind of people would choose to sail if they knew that the slightest thing went wrong, they wouldn't have any chance?

The tea kettle starts to whistle, and Katara's thankful to have something to do with her hands as she processes this.]

Who's the forth one?

Robin-chwaaaaaaaaaaaaaan~!

[there's a longing note in Sanji's voice, beyond the usual excitement that couples his vocal offerings to women. Someone misses his second goddess.]

[Grin.]

Robin's another crewmate of ours, but she hasn't turned up in Luceti yet. [And hopefully never will. ~~Ohoho.~~]

Oh. [Katara's poured the hot water for tea and set the kettle back down. She's a bit at a loss of what to do next. Should she go sit down? Keep standing?]

How large is your crew? Of the four of us, we're only missing Aang. And [her shoulders straighten] it's better that way.

We've got two missing. [And Sanji's hoping it stays that way, no matter how he misses them. Better they be stuck back at home than in the hellhole.

And thankfully the biscuits are finally ready, which means the preparations are complete. He places them tastefully on a dish, and brings the finished meal out to the table: avocado ham sandwiches dressed lightly in a sour cream and lemon paste, an assortment of fruits he tossed in a tangy sauce for that added zing, and biscuits to compliment it all]

Aang keeps an eye on the elements, right?

On the elements? No, it's not really like that... [Katara will take the tea and follow Sanji to the table.]

Aang can use all the elements, or at least he could by the end of the war, according to Sokka. But the Avatar's job is about keeping balance, whether it's between nations or the spirit world and our world, or just between people.

[A pause as she looks at the plate Sanji prepared.] Wow, Sanji. This looks amazing.

Similar to someone using the Filial spirits here? [he can see Aang getting along with them, in that case] And that's a big job for a kid his age.

[Damn straight it is. He's got a large grin splitting his face. Approval makes this job worth it] I'm glad Katara-chan approves~! [bows a little]

[As this might concern him. But she won't press it if he'd rather be elsewhere.]

Alas, I promised to be out somewhere. [he senses the srs bsnz direction their conversation will take, nonetheless] Please, fill me in on any details when I get back.

[Hesitating a moment. Then she smiles.]

Sure thing, Sanji-kun. Have a nice afternoon.

[Katara glances between Sanji and Nami, but well - she came here to talk with Nami in the first place and she's not surprised that Nami will fill her friend in on anything that's important. They were all working towards the same goal, after all: Keeping safe and getting out.]

Thanks for everything, Sanji!

[And so when Sanji leaves, Katara will turn to Nami with a smile. She does feel a bit awkward being here, but it's nice all the same.] So. Seems like we're getting better food than at the restaurant.

He's probably the best chef in town. [Digging in to said delicious food, now.]

So. Cunning plan to take Yuber down?

...I'm not so sure how cunning it is, but Sokka seems to think its our best shot. He wants to lure Yuber out to a specific spot over the tunnels by having someone challenge him to a fight. Once Yuber's there, Toph will earthbend a hole under him, and there will be a cage in the tunnel with people waiting down there for Yuber. They'll rush Yuber, and chain him up, and that will be that.

[Katara looks down and pokes at her food. She is clearly dubious.]

Sounds a little over complex. Though I knew about the hole-into-the-tunnels part. [Sokka was using her maps for it.] But once he's in the tunnels, all they need is to lock him up. There's plenty of rooms down there.

The problem lies in doing that before he snags a clue and teleports away.

Or in getting him there in the first place! He's a chaos demon, right? [Someone has been stalking Yuber's journals and conversations with Tormod.] If he was going to meet to meet someone to fight, why would he do it out in the forest, where no one could see? There are people who are just... not very honorable about facing fighting challenges. And if all he wants is to cause more pain and suffering, why go after the person who challenges him at the time and place of the challenger's choosing? Why not wait and get him on his own terms?
