[These decorations have been up for a few days now, and while at first Katara thought they were pretty they have now succeeded in making her grumpy. Yes. Very grumpy. Grumpy enough to make a post about it, in fact.]

How do they expect us to sleep with all these lights in our window? I've put a double curtain over it, and the light is still keeping me awake. Does anyone have any ideas?

[You might catch some muttering about: "Moving to sleep down in the basement" or "It's not too cold to camp out in the forest" before the journal shuts. She'll get back to it in a little bit, she just needs to finish making the grocery list.

Once she finishes with any replies that she may receive, Katara heads into town. The lights really are pretty. And so are the wreaths and the snowmen and the... unfamiliar sprigs of green over the doorway to the grocery store really kind of... isn't. Why is that even there? Katara pauses underneath it to examine it more closely...]

Okay no more context. Masaomi was in the center of town, hanging out and waiting for people to hit on, lurking around there... and he saw Katara walking to the grocery. Or well, he saw her belatedly, by the time he starts to go over she's taken note of the mistletoe. so, he smirks and slides up next to her]

[Katara sees him coming up out of the corner of her eye and so half-turns to greet him by the time he comes up next to him. Her grumpiness has someone dissipated due to the walk, so she even has a smile for him.]

[As Katara's coming in and staring at the mistletoe, Ceodore's approaching the door with a small sack of groceries himself. Most of which is junk food and the few things he was actually supposed to bring home. He nods politely to her and glances up at the sprig.]

Lady Katara! Good to see you!

[He's been told what that naughty plant is supposed to be for but isn't about to go making her uncomfortable.]

[Oh dear. Well, fortunately, Katara steps back a half step to make room for him as he comes towards the door.

...unfortunately, she's not completely clear of the sprig's circle of influence. She blinks a bit when she sees him, stifling a strange sort of... feeling.]

I never even thought that some people might have trouble sleeping with them around. They're so much a part of this season for me that I'm not sure that I could sleep without them.

Sleep masks. They're pretty much required for sleeping in Tokyo or New York City.

"Sleep masks?" [This is an unfamiliar term to Katara. She does, at least, recognize the name of those Earth cities.] What are they?

Hm. Ask someone with skill in Hyt's magic, to dim the lights? I've volunteer, but I haven't yet learned such.

[An almost desperate sort of hope:] Do you think that would work?

I kind of like them! It's like being back in the forest - there were lots of fairies around.

[Yeah, clearly someone has no issue with twinkly lights.]

Maybe you can put something really thick in front of it. Like wood.

[She'd rather not argue about the relative benefits of the lights.

Even if fairies sound pretty neat. Right now she doesn't care about things that keep her from sleep.]

I don't really think boarding up all the windows is the best idea. But if it keeps up, we might have to give that a try.

[Sokka was just headed to the grocery for a quick snack before getting back to work. Plans did not include his sister standing there gawking at some weird plant. So, before long, he's joining in her in looking a it.]

Weird, isn't it? I had one hanging over the smithy door this morning.

[She glances over at Sokka and. Shakes her head, standing aside so he can join her.]

It's ugly. I can understand the wreaths and the snowmen and even the lights - but this is just ugly.

[Kazuma was out to do a bit of shopping for the house. It's been kind of...full of gloom there, despite how festive things were outside and it just made him felt somewhat out of place. He never really knew Thirteen that well like the rest of his housemates. So he was out doing errands to avoid some of the awkward.

When he reached the store, he had to stop momentarily when someone was standing in front of the entrance. What was this woman doing...?]

Who knows. Maybe they just don't expect us to sleep in general with those things around, it could be the whole point behind it.

No, people are saying it's part of "Christmas" decorations. But... it would be nice if there was an off switch.

[Ever unimpressed with the cold, Shikamaru's decided to invest in some winter gear: boots instead of ninja sandals, and a pair of gloves. Not that he can wear them yet - the brace on his wrist gets in the way.

Ino says it's good to come off in a day or two. Far as he's concerned, that's not soon enough. He mutters unhappily in the meantime and trudges towards the grocery store.]

Have you tried one of those sleep masks? I've heard they're supposed to be quite effective in blocking out lights.
